For this team to make a run in June, I believe we need Dugas and Milazzo healthy. Stevenson has done a fantastic job replacing Dugas, but I think Dugas’s veteran experience will be huge come post season time. Also, McManus is playing well of late, but we need our All Defensive catcher to control the base paths in the post season.

Any updates on the two?

Seriously, my biggest complaint with JJ is how close to the best he keeps everything
Just say this guy is out 8 weeks, we don’t need details but at least something

I had no idea Dugas would be out this long. While stevenson hasn't been chump change like you said I think he's definitely someone we'd like to have back. When he's on he's one of the best hitters on the team as a guy who can change a game.

Not really the right thread to ask this, but does college baseball have anything similar to college football when it comes to redshirting.

College football players are allowed to compete in up to four games and still qualify for a redshirt season, maintaining four years of eligibility under NCAA legislation in place since 2018. Before that year, being on the field for a snap in one game could cost a player an entire year of eligibility

From the last update it sounded like Dugas could possibly return soon and Milazzo would be out for a good bit of time. I'm thinking that with Stevenson being serviceable, they are giving Dugas more time to heal before the postseason. That's just my guess though.

I don’t think we’ll see long term lineup changes this late.

McManus / Travinksi are our catchers and Stevenson is our LF.

If they come back, Milazzo may be a defensive replacement late and Dugas a pinch hitter or matchup starter.

Guess he chose not to go the surgery route because it was mid season. Catcher’s knees get abused, with their position you can’t really take it easy on a knee.

I disagree with this. If Dugas comes back healthy he will inserted into the lineup. Stevenson doesn't even start every game of the series he has performed really well but he has not been lights out where you don't put Dugas back into the lineup.

Disagree with both of these. Especially catcher. The second milazzo is healthy and you can prevent these past balls you do it. And Dugas led the SEC in RBIs last year, he’s a bat you put in the lineup if you can.

Teams are going to throw lefties at us as much as they can. Getting Dugas back at a minimum helps deter some of that. McManus has been good until he got lazy in the 9th last night. But if Milazzo starts it gives you another RH PH bat in Travinski/McManus. Getting these two guys back instantly makes us better vs LHP

Many different scenarios with both of those guys getting healthy. Would have plenty ways to use them mixed with the guys that are playing.

Dugas would get his starting spot back as soon as he is healthy. Stevenson's role will then be a late game PH situation vs a RHP if Dugas is struggling that game then defensive replacement late in the game. IF Dugas is seeing the ball well that game and having good at bats you let Dugas hit and if he gets on then Stevenson PR for Dugas then defensive replacement.

The catcher position is much more difficult to figure out what would be best. I think Milazzo healthy gives you options with RH bats off the bench. McManus has been swinging it really well as of late. You almost think of considering Milazzo catching and McManus DH vs LHP and then RHP you let McManus catch and Jobert DH with Milazzo coming in as a defensive replacement later in the game. Unless you always want Milazzo for defense even vs RHP which would take McManus and move him to the bench for a RH bat later in the game.

Whatever the case, getting these guys healthy down the stretch will be nice. Hopefully that can happen.

Beloso tore his ACL, but is wearing a brace so he can hit. Don't think he'll get any meaningful AB's since we have better options than him with a torn ACL on the bench.

I think this is half right.

So Johnson is going to just keep an OF in the lineup hitting .214 in SEC play for the sake of continuity?

Yes. He's demonstrated that.

By getting so desperate that he inserted Bianco in the starting lineup in place of Stephenson on Sunday?
