So who the frick in America would build this if they don't?

Jesus Christ the kneejerk anti-Trump horse shite gets more stupid every fricking day.

Fully paid for would mean no tax dollars from Americans nor subsidies or even hidden charges on electric bills for upgraded grid. Nothing in life is free, quit thinking like a democrat

The thread started off retarded implying that the Koreans are just going to gift us hundreds of billions in nuclear power plants

No they’re going to invest billions in nuclear plants. I’m sure they’ll get a return on that investment but with data centers being built this will not only create more energy jobs it will provide vast amounts of cheap electricity. Nuclear is the most efficient, cheapest power generation and produces no emissions

Tariffs are taxes.

Unless this admin eliminates the income tax, it is simply double taxation and higher prices.

That is not what the thread says at all. Can you not frickin read?

Do you just scroll Twitter and assume everything you read is true? The deal isn’t done yet, Mensa.

“Hours later, South Korean President Lee Jae Myung issued a clarification that effectively pushed back against Washington’s portrayal of the investment package as a done deal, making clear that further negotiations were still necessary.”

All they agreed to was a “framework” of a deal.

I'm not going to rip Trump for trying on these like this. But, it's another one of those situations where everyone jumps up and down and spikes the football, then it never materializes. Best case scenario is a nuke plant in ten years, right?

At least 10 years, and that’s just the regulatory and permitting side. Wait until the labor unions get a hold of it. I can’t wait until the South Koreans see what happens to the cost of their investment when a PLA is required. Thats why anyone who claims this as a “done deal” or more laughably, that it is all because of tariffs is dumber than a frickin fence post.

There is a plant in west Michigan that is re-starting and it is mind-boggling what it has taken to get it back online. I think I have heard the trades guys talking about the Koreans at times. Should be interesting.

Do you just wake up salty as frick? Because it seems that way. It was announced by the White House. I think that makes it worthy of discussion on this political board.

Stay mad, ho.

How many announcements like this happened under Trump's first term that never came to fruition? Same for Biden? It doesn't matter until anything is actually built. Anyone can say they are going to invest 'billions' doing it is another matter.

In this case, and in several others, tariffs were used as a negotiation tool that brought in massive investments in our country.

He says this is the goal. I want this to happen as well obviously.

So America and American companies are unable to finance it's own energy grid now?

But somehow South Korea can.
