re: All the outrage about no Bama or Florida as permanent

The whining is justified re: Florida. One of the most competitive and entertaining series from the divisional era. Every other year means that gets cut in half. Half sucks.

We have some sort of tradition with all 3 permanent opponents. I mean it could of just as easily been Miss st, mizzou, and Arky.

It’s clearly a better draw for playoff viability, and sure, we’ll still see plenty of Bama/FL/AU.
I still wanted all the permanent rivals to be big on big though. But I get why that wouldn’t happen. Good luck pitching to Tennessee that their annuals with Kentucky and Vanderbilt aren’t important enough conference history to survive in this new era, so they have to play Oklahoma instead
Or whatever pairings you want to make that point.

Hating A&M is like hating the special needs kid in your class. You only embarrass yourself by doing it.
Florida and Bama are championship programs that are at least deserving of respect

The problem is having to play the faggies every year.

So many fans on here just started paying attention to LSU when Saban was here.
That’s strange makes them very long term fans.
It’s been a quarter century, Pops!

Did you know that LSU used to play aTm every year? Before they were even in the SEC? It was a pretty big rivalry.

I heard we played a bunch in the '90s, yes.

The impression is get is it was a game that was frequently played. Not really a rivalry, just frequently on the schedule, like Ms State.
It is clear they think of us much more than we think of them.

The faggies and their lil bro persona is something i want nothing to do with, nothing to gain and everything to lose in the forced rivalry.
Couldn't agree more. I never want to hear their name or even acknowledge their cringy existence.

that trophy is valued at $9,240,000!!!
Sadly it is only gold plated, so the actual value is probably closer to $3000.

Nonsense. With the old SEC west schedule they played Arkansas, Texas A&M. Ole Miss EVERY year so this is no big deal

quote:Not really. They played annually in sporadic stretches, with the majority of the pre SEC games taking place in a series during the early 60’s to mid 70’s and the other in the late 80’s to mid 90’s.

The “rivalry” and series was pretty similar to Rice until A&M joined the conference.

They first played in 1899 and every 2-3 years annually for the next 50 years.
After a 5 year hiatus ('50-'54), they played 12 times over the next 15 years, they then played 6 straight years from 70-75 and they then played 10 straight years from '86-'95.
It wasn't sporadic stretches. The times they didnt play were WAYYY more sporadic then the stretches they didn't. They've basically been in each others rotation since the turn of the last century except for 1995-2011 which was because the SEC expanded and split into two divisions in 1992.

No one would argue that they didn’t play frequently, but it wasn’t annually except for a few stretches. Excluding a bowl game they played 49 times in 96 years, with 26 of those being in the last two annual stretches I originally mentioned.

Yeah all the whining was dumb. We'll still play them every other year while opening up the schedule to see other conference teams more often like Texas and Georgia. I'll sacrifice an annual Bama or Florida game to see other marquee games more frequently.
now imagine if we could have sacrificed Arkansas and/or A&M and still get those other marquee games more often, but also still get the Bama and/or Florida matchup ever year as well.

they played 49 times in 96 years,
Exactly. For damn near 100 years they played on average every other year.
That's not sporadic. That's regular. Not annual, but 100% without a doubt, unquestionably more than sporadic stretches. The stretches they didnt play were much more irregular than the stretches they have played for more than a century.

Exactly. I would 100% rather play Arkansas or A&M on a yearly basis than Bama.
It doesn’t matter how mediocre Bama is or who their coach is, every time we qplay them, they bring their A game and perform extremely well. This shite has been going ever since the Hallman/DiNardo days
