This has been said a lot, but - objectively speaking - Ole Miss's results under Bianco have been subpar relative to Ole Miss's historical average. Here are the numbers:

The college world series started in 1947. Bianco started at Ole Miss in 2001. Ole Miss went to 4 CWS in the 54 years prior to Bianco and 1 in Bianco's 21 seasons. So Bianco's 1 in 21 falls short of their previous average of 1 in 13.5 years.

It is even worse when you look at conference championships. In those same 54 years prior to Bianco, Ole Miss won 6 SEC championship...equal to one championship every 9 years. Bianco has won 1 (1 in 21 years).

Admittedly, he has run a good program and been consistent, but it's not like he has historically overperformed Ole Miss's average.

Mike still isn't getting results against teams they out resource in regional and super regional play
Bianco gets to regionals/supers and consistently loses to teams ranked below him. I have no idea why that's a desirable trait.

To be fair, he has to recruit at a second tier school in a state where he’s no better than the 2nd best program and he’s surrounded by powerhouse programs.

Ole Miss has more resources than most teams in America. They consistently sell out their park, and their roster is littered with guys from California and other states. And LSU outperforms them every year. I'd prefer Paul to Bianco, and that isn't saying much.

his backers are either:
1. Arrogant to the point that they truly think the gap between LSU and Ole Miss from a resource standpoint is so wide, you insert him here and he levels up big time. The numbers posted in this thread prove that's false.
2. They just want a guy they like and have a personal relationship with to get the job

Mike Archer all over again.

Spurrier was available and practically begging for the job.

LSU and the Good Ole Boy network must be destroyed!

Don't listen to them Scott..........

No further evidence needed that Bianco isn’t the guy.

I am going to be so damn pissed if we hire Bianco.

“He’s an LSU guy!” Morons. Tell me Michigan football is doing under their “has to be a Michigan guy” philosophy.

We moving goal posts now huh?

Rosenblatt’s whole point is that Godwin gets the “he did better than the guy before him” treatment and bianco gets the “he sucks” treatment despite doing much better than any Ole Miss before him.

He’s not moving the goalposts, he’s pointing out we use 2 different goalposts.

yes but its the casual fan that isn't as well informed you have to worry about. Many probably will accept Bianco because
1. ONE OF US
2. "ohhh its ok he was mediocre at Ole Miss, think of what he can do here!"

if he were in year 5-6, you could still make this case for Mike. Its been 20 years. The program is established and Bianco has been given more resources than probably 80-90% of the Div 1 baseball teams....yet his results fall way short of that.

if doing better than your predecessors was the only thing that matters then Les would still be the football coach, minus the whole sexual predator thing

Coogan was angry with me when I said I’d riot if they hire Bianco during the Moscona game watch YouTube.

He did not like it one bit.

The guy before him was 22 years ago. Bianco has had all the time and resources in the world yet can't get beyond a super in all that time. At this point, he is what he is and there's no reason to think similar resources would change those outcomes when he's lost those supers with better teams than his opponent.

Godwin is in his 7th year and taken his team to the supers 3 out of 6 chances and missed the NCAAT once. That's pretty damn good at ECU and he would actually get a bump in resources here.

Bianco rode the wave of football TV contract money being invested into baseball and couldn't turn it into results.

The only reason people even consider him is because his son recently played at LSU.

104.5 has definitely cranked up the Bianco propaganda.
