It's probably a little better than he gets credit for. He has the highest winning percentage in the SEC in one score games since he's been at LSU(this was coming into this week)

I’ve never seen a team that can’t get the play in and wastes more presnap timeouts than LSU the last two years

Kelly was not a bad hire. He was exactly what we needed to get the program back on track. The problem is his contract and buyout. We need him to pull a saban and get pissed off about NIL and retire

Seriously what is this dudes redeeming or innovative quality?

The redeeming quality is definitely not innovative lol… his strength as a head coach is that he’s generally good enough to avoid disaster. He had one truly atrocious year at Notre Dame but otherwise had them consistently at ~9 wins a year. It was a high-floor, mid-ceiling hire.

He wasn’t hired primarily to help us catch Alabama and Georgia but to prevent us from becoming Auburn or Florida. And he did that, and I’m glad he righted the ship so quickly. But I really doubt that he can win a national title here without a talent edge that he doesn’t seem well equipped to engineer in the SEC.

Meh, BK should be held accountable for promoting Sloane and keeping Davis, this is our biggest problem now it's apparent. Not sure the percentage of responsibility for this is between the two but Kelly put them in their positioners and has kept them there.

But I give Kiffin little to no credit. His team had a shitload of dumb penalties and had a couple of really big calls go their way and it was a one score game late against a team that couldn't run the ball and whose QB struggled with accuracy even when he had time. I honestly don't see that as out-coaching more self inflicted.

Imagine having to give someone a 10-year deal to coach LSU? People want this job and will take it and earn their keep. This whole situation sucks.

From an outsider’s point of view, he’s a decent coach who can produce consistent winning seasons (there are many out there who are a lot worse) in the SEC no less. Not an easy task in and of itself year in and year out.

That said, nothing in his history yet suggests he’s “that guy” who is going to be getting LSU its next natty or two.

Then again, in fairness LSU won two natty’s already with guys who weren’t necessarily looked at as “that guy” either (from a national perspective).

I’ve never heard a single person who knows jack shite about football say that, and I doubt that you have, either. He definitely has his faults, but you could give this same Sunday morning treatment to any major college coach after a performance similar to LSU’s performance yesterday.

Maybe he needs better horses

considering, at this point, all the horses in the stable, were HIS picks, it's again goes to what does Kelly actually do well...

Mingo is right... he has no one identifiable redeeming quality... Miles was an imbecile, but he could recruit... O was a loudmouth moron, but he could recruit... you can't even say that about Kelly b/c we are getting beat on the recruiting trail more often than not for the really big fish... and yeah, i know the landscape has changed, but let's be real... it's not drastically different, as it was always about money with the big name recruits... the portal is the biggest difference, and yes, it's harder with that now, and that may be literally the ONLY thing that Kelly does well, but that's not what we are paying this guy $10 million a year for

He’s good at brining organizational stability tand setting a high floor for any team but his ceiling is limited. He doesn’t appear to be a guy players want to win for when you compare him to lanning. LSU will probably go a 9-3 8-4 for the next 4 years and he retires

He holds the most wins among active coaches. He clearly does something right. Hate him or not he’s a good coach.

Might be a good but not great coach

IMO,I watched the LSU coaching staff (both sides of the ball) get taken to the woodshed by the Coach who we should have hired instead of Kelly.

Barring anything crazy, ND is going to be a title contender next season. Carr is elite, and a ton of young guys on the OL and defense will be a year better. Shame they didn’t go 1-1 to start the season because the offense with Love, Fields, and Price is elite.

Bk is more of a CEO coach; he's so hands off. Baker is the person who got schooled. he has issues with innovative OC's

Then why do his offenses look the same regardless of OC?

They gave their offense who sucked arse all day long a chance to win in the 4th quarter
