I get it I’m just saying you didn’t specifically pointed out anything else as a question mark. Do you think that every position group that needs to develop is a question mark?

Do you really want to argue semantics? That can be said for every team that doesn't have a 1st rounder at that position.

Some players need to develop but are solid starters. Some are not solid. I specifically noted safety in more than one post in this thread as needing help.

No I don’t want to argue semantics, I’m simply trying to get clarity on your post. It wasn’t very clear as you only specifically named one question mark in the entire OP and wanted me to make assumptions on the rest. I am making those assumptions by asking further questions.

'25.

The apostrophe goes first to denote that you're leaving off the 20--. I couldn't let it slide twice.

Good post otherwise.

This may seem trivial to some, but are we straightening out our uniform dysfunction over the spring and summer months?

GOOD post. Add fixing ST's coaching/execution (punting, snapping, blocking, holding, etc) and coverage, and we will be GTG. With that said, I have to give a shout out to return kickoff specialist Aeron Burrell, who was outstanding all season. He'll be back and is truly a STs weapon.

Yeah, I realized that and added it in a latter post. I was getting long winded and tried to wrap it up. Return game and KO has been good. All else needs major work.

3 straight years with ST gaps is not good.

Definitely think we need to add another TE with experience and can block. We are one injury away from being very thin and inexperienced at that position. The special teams needs to be addressed especially the snapper and holder and with Todd basically being shown the door with the transfer punter coming this will be fixed. I like Ramos and think he will fine.

He's a decent short range kicker when the FG process is executed properly. I don't know if we have someone that can hit the 50 yard range kicks. He's 1/3 in 3 years and I don't think we try many because he's limited.

It has to play on Ramos's mind not knowing how that snap will go and if Todd can get the damn thing down. Hell his damn OL blew the assignment for blocking also on the one miss last game. Definitely need a special teams coach worth a shite

We have a tougher schedule than this year. I think we go 9-3. I think we may be better but the record will still show 3 losses. I could see a loss against Clemson if it’s game 1.

Definitely disagree with you on LBs. Keys flashed and made plays in the 7 games he played defensively. Then off the list of names you mentioned let’s compare freshman yrs since Keys is a freshman.

Keys (7 games) 31 tkls 1.5 sack 1 FR 1 Int 3 PD 1 TD

White (8 games) 30 tkls 1 sack 1 FR 1 FF

Clark 1 tkl

K. Beckwith (9 games) 11 tkls 1 sack 1 FF

D. Beckwith 8 tkls

Whit Weeks (9 games) 42 tkls .5(1/2) sack

Bonus: P. Queen 6 tkls .5(1/2) sack

So going off how those other LBs did their freshman yr he definitely is a big path. He’s a underrated LB so far to play as a true freshman.

Safety seriously needs improvement.

I'm still not sure we have safeties who would play for other SEC teams, much less start.

I kind of felt that way about corner early in the season, but there was some obvious improvement (and incoming talent is very promising).

Being as kind as I can be, is the safety coach the problem? Is it Baker's scheme? We have zero proven talent at safety.

Tackling needs more improvement, although it looked marginally improved from earlier in the season.

I know people don’t care for him, but Gilbert has started 21 games in the SEC. He may not be a high upside guy but he is experienced.

Then you’ve got Spears, who had a lot of snaps for a true freshman (and 3 starts) this year but has had some growing pains. Spears has upside but lacks experience.

And we have Perkins returning, who I assume will play star.

So I don’t know that I would say we have “zero proven talent”.. what we are really lacking at safety is depth/competition. I think there’s a pretty good chance Gilbert, Spears, and Perkins are your 3 guys (replacing Gilbert, Ryan, and Burns) at the start of the 2025 season. I would feel OK about that, if those guys competed in camp and won the jobs. Problem is I don’t think there’s much competition to be found with the current roster. So I would certainly feel a hell of a lot better if we brought in one or two experienced transfers.

Roster looks fine on paper.

We’ve got to get the physicality and aggression up or it will be more of the same shite. Been a long time since we won games when our defense got off the bus, LSU needs to learn how to make mfers quit again.

The problem wasn’t the talent it was the coaching. Brian kelly specifically.

Great post, agree with most.

Areas I’m not worried about:
QB, RB, WR, Dline, LB, TE

Areas I’m in wait and see (worried) about:
OLine
Safety
DB
ST
OC coaching

Remains to be seen if we can integrate the portal players and get production out of them year 1. Kelly and OC have not impressed me at all with this or their schemes and playcalling.

If we can get both offense and defense playing at an SEC level and LSU standard, watch out, we will be very good. My fear is that it is going to take Kelly 3 games to pull it all together (as he has shown in the past that he is a slow starter and slow to make decisions and changes early).

Early prediction 9-3 based on todays view, with a potential of 11-1 if he can put it all together.

Correct. We don’t currently play complementary football. That’s been a staple of BK. It’s always whack-a-mole with one of our units deficient. He needs to get special teams in order and place more of an emphasis in practice on developing a physical team in the run game.

LSU finished winning the last 3 games relatively comfortably. Over those 3, Nuss averaged 304 ypg, completed 70%+ each game and had 7 TDs vs 1 INT.
Green is going to be a problem for teams as a full time player. His 6 catches for 53 and 2 TDs would be in Taylor's top 3 games this season for yards and Taylor only had 2 TDs all season.
Hilton is healthy and now gives us the deep threat we lacked.
Incoming WR portal talent. Nic Anderson (6'4) had a 10 TD season in 23' at OU before getting hurt this season. Barion Brown is a 6'1 burner with SEC production.

The OL did as well as could be expected in the bowl game. We add the best center in the portal. We also add one of the top IOL with Thompson. Curne could be a day one starter. The staff thinks he's that good.

RB: I don't think Durham is 100% from his foot/toe injury. He doesn't have the gear he did earlier. He'll get healthy and be much more dangerous. We add the #1 RB in Berry who is a very dangerous receiver as well.

DL: We add 2 very good P4 productive DEs with Pyburn and Payton. Guillory is back. We have the deepest DL rotation we've had in years and some big boys to clog the middle.

LB is deep and talented. Whit back. Keys looks like a future star and Perk is back in the mix. Likely the star position.

CB: Delane is a top, productive CB. Jackson was a top 7 CB out of HS. Pickett is the top CB out of HS and already practicing with the team.

Safety will be addressed in the portal. The players we have are talented, but still need to develop.

We have solid coaches. Sloan is the question mark, but year 2 as OC hopefully shows improvement. We have talent, experience and depth at most positions. I expect big things in 25'.

They are opening up againset a team returning 18 of 22 starters.

Florida will be the best it's been in a decade+ next year with lagway probably being a Heisman candidate.

Texas A&M will have a dual threat QB with another year under his belt and a defense that is better than ours.

Alabama finally gets rid of the only thing holding them back, Milroe.

Do I need to continue on?

Next year will be LSU's worst year in over a decade. Worse than Orgeron's years.
