Brennan played scared. Waited too long on half his throws.

Wow, what a thread.

First live game action following quite possibly the greatest college football QB of all time.

Yes, he held the ball and yes it let it get to him.

But this is game speed and he hasn’t really seen it.

3 seconds or less, he was 21 of 29 with 4 drops, a TD and no int.

7 for 18 when held longer, 105 yds, 2 Td, 2 int and ran into some sacks.

Give Ensminger time to work on it. If he isn’t improving in 2 to 3 games, then we know he’s got a problem.

But holy cow, giving up on a guy that had flashes of good play after one game is nuts.

At that rate, by game 4 we will have to move a WR to QB and just run the wildcat all game.

Have some patience for YOUR players.

Brennan has been here since 2017. How much are they going to fix in 1 week vs years he's been here?

Game speed with starters is a huge difference.

That’s impossible, I was told slinger and Linehan are awful and their schemes are like 2018 again.

The successful implementation of the scheme is more important than the scheme.

60+ points, 500+ yards passing & 6 or more TDs.

It would have been like Mayfield vs Mahomes.

Man after seeing those that is just horrible. Brennan has absolutely zero vision.

He's played 1 game, it was not great. It's not like he's out there throwing picks left and right and not moving the ball.

He threw 2 picks and failed to move the ball on 3rd down successively. He probably would have thrown 4 or more interceptions if not for our WRs bailing him out on under-thrown balls, balls behind the WR, or just ducks.

I challenge you to rewatch the game and give an honest assessment of his play. There were multiple WRs open on nearly every play; a lot of them would have been touchdowns. The play calling was actually fantastic and he had all day in a clean pocket 75% of the time. Myles really struggled with presnap reads and understanding how to anticipate the open receiver. Let’s not forget how rattled he was, which is down right unacceptable for a 4 year player. He was so concerned about the DLine in front of him after the snap that he just broke down mentally. You can’t fix the problems he has in a week and I’m not ready to mail in this season.

Brennan was good enough to get the stats he earned, but clearly he could have gotten more. He was good enough to be the backup the last few seasons, but not good enough to be the starter. Hopefully, he is good enough to get us to 8 wins this season and hopefully, he is good enough to make a big stride next year for his senior year and not make the same mistakes.

All that being said, the real reason for losing the game was the passing defense. Brennan was #2.

All I can say is that if he heard footsteps all game with MSU rush, then wait till Bama comes to town.

He is NOT a freshman. He has been here for several years. There are no excuses at this point for poor pocket awareness and inability to read the defense and know your hot-routes..

Oh come on lol. A huge chunk of our offense last year was Joe throwing the ball up to Jamarr and him adjusting and making a great play. That's part of being a quarterback is giving your guys a chance to make a play.

I have given about 6 honest assessments. He missed a lot of open guys, he held the ball too long, he scrambled out of pockets when he did not need to.

It was his first full game. If you isolate any of the TD drives we'd say this guy is going to be great, isolate any of the 3 and outs and we'd say he's the next Harris or Jennings.

That is the problem here. He did a lot bad and we are refusing to see the things he did well because of it. If he trusts what he sees and lets the ball fly on a few of those we are having a totally different discussion today. I know 99% of the film study this week will be coaches pointing that out.

He did not have a good game. But it was 1 game, and I saw enough good plays out of him to give him time to fix some of the issues. I'm confident he will be more decisive this week.
