I just remember us complaining about JJ’s/Lee’s stats even when we were winning with him.

At least Etling’s stats are respectable (drops, bad routes and OL issues).

Can you imagine previous QBs with this current OL and receiving group?

I do see Brennan/Narcisse as the future and receivers like Davis, Anderson and Sullivan will be great, but Etling deserves the starting spot. We gotta stay behind this guy.

Three times in the second half, Etling took off after two seconds with a good pocket around him. Our OL has issues but they aren't the reason for Etling's play. He is what he is - a one read QB.

stop with the facts. i have said it as well. people with football knowledge can see this. unfortunately we have a very ignorant fanbase who never did understand performance only stat lines thus the failure to have any perpsective or context when speaking about these things.

Actually, we do. The receiver admitted fault for it immediately after the game.

The reality is we needed a game manager last year (and several previous years) so those stats would be good enough. This year, the defense is beat up and we actually need the QB to go out and make some plays throughout the game in order to beat decent teams.

Danny is tough as nails and is doing most of what we fans have called for over the past several years, but we just need more this year.

The worst game he's ever had imo

Etling is not good. Plain and simple. Andrew hatch was tough. Etling is a tad better than him.

Given his limited abilities, calling run plays for him was helpful. We can't beat a decent team with zero passing game, which is what we have. And florida isn't decent. They should be 1-4, with that one win barely beating Vandy.
We completed one pass to a wr, and he had to make a spectacular play on a poorly thrown ball to get that completion.

How anyone can watch etling and not see how terrible he is amazes me. I understand wanting to be positive and all, but he's just not good at all. It feels as if he's gotten worse every game he's started since the first one last year

It was the same thing last season but we had a dominate line so our fierce running game and the resulting play action covered up his flaws.

He's probably still our best option this season but he does severely limit what we can do on offense.

Posted in another thread.had UF not had 4 freshmen dbs playing 75% of the game and the refs getting the pick call wrong where Chark took the ball away from the DB with his butt on the ground, there is no win and he has 2-3 picks including 2 pick sixes yesterday. I know if and buts...

Geez dude, pretty negative outlook. We had a few freshmen playing on our line man, tell me how the game would have changed if that weren't the case.

We are severely crippled offensively with etling, if you couldnt notice that this game, youre blind. Coaches had zero trust in him with a 1 point lead.

Those are not terrible numbers.

But anyone watching yesterday knows he is has a ton of heart, he's tough as nails, he seems to be a great kid.... but he was the only reason Florida was even in the game.

I think we haven't seen what Canada's offense can really do because Etling has proven time and again that he cannot consistently make even the simplest throws to wide open receivers.

And, if his first option isn't there he immediately bails.

I'm not saying we should bench him, but if Brennan isn't better than him we are in a lot of trouble in the future.

Those stats don't mean a thing, and they're much worse than those of Stidham, or Hurts, or even Austin Allen. Bottom line: Etling sucks and should be riding the pine.

I can't argue with most of that. But I think saying our O-line "has issues" is like saying the sinking of the Titanic was just a boating accident. We're so banged up, with little-to-no depth, etc.

I really think they're at least part of the reason for the QB play. But Danny definitely took off way too early a couple times last night. And I'd have to go back and watch to see if he ever went to his second read.

Well, let's do what we did with Harris: start Brennan against Auburn and watch him get his arse kicked. Because that's exactly what will happen. He's not ready, physically or mentally.

He's not the best with his progressions, but he's got heart and will prepare each game as if it's the Super Bowl. He's got some ability but he's not a all sec caliber guy.

Best guy we got and need to get behind him despite his flaws. Brennan not ready.

No one said that but posting his stats as if its some kind of proof that he is not an enormous offensive liability is dishonest.
