Is it too soon to make this a thing? Things looked eerily Chavis-like against UF and other teams this year with long conversions. Hope we can fix it.

People who are saying 3rd and Aranda have long-term memory loss and don’t remember what the defense was really like under Chavis

With the game on the line.

As of right now, Aranda biggest failure in this regard was A&M last year giving up a 4th and long.

Chavis kept giving up crucial 3rd downs with the game on the line.

Aranda is better in crunch time.

We had them in 3rd down 17 times and they converted 9, gotta get better at getting off the field on 3rd

Probably too soon. Trask was making pro-level throws and progressions you wouldn’t expect an inexperienced QB to make.

Some of those passes were not defendable.

DOn't agree that he can be tagged with that yet, but there is definitely frustration amongst the fan base to get these conversions shut down by the 2nd quarter. We will not stop every attempt, but certainly, given the ability of the athletes on this team, they should get this corrected. There were two different defensive teams that played against FL. I suspect patience is a fans' best option at this point.

Now if I had told myself the above while sitting at the game the other night, brown liquor me would have told me to STFU, lol!

The DL was also getting mugged all night long. Officials seem pretty oblivious to holding this season

You want this to be a thing?

LSU is ranked 38th in opponent 3rd down conversion, which is 34%

Every team in the nation gives up plays on 3rd down sometimes.

That's why every whiny fanbase says "3rd and (insert coach)."

LSU is 38th in the country in 3rd down defensive percentage at 34.4%. Alabama and Florida are giving up first downs on 34.1% of 3rd down plays.

There's no anomaly here just fan perception.

It feels since the beginning of this year an effort is being made to just rush with a minimum amount of players in the first half. Only 3-4 man rushes. Then 2nd half Aranda brings the heat with more blitzes. Would like to know how many stunts are run 1st half compared to 2nd half. This defense is loaded and when healthy will be very good in the 2nd half of this season. I think there is a lot of experimentation this season so far with scheme and personnel.

We currently rank 38th in 3rd down defense giving up 34.4% conversions. Bama and UF sit just in front of us tied at 35th at 34.1%.

Wisconsin leads CFB at 15.7% which is ridiculous. Oklahoma, if you want to look at a quick strike offense is 9th at 27.8% and Ohio St is 3rd at 25.6%.

Did you miss the halftime adjustments in that game? People making comments about Aranda are insufferable.

I don't understand the talk of him changing things in the 2nd half. The 2nd half is when the 2 long drives occurred with multiple 3rd & 10+ conversions.

Fortunately LSU bowed up at the goal line and Mullen made a couple of stupid play calls and Trask finally made a mistake.

The long 3rd conversions need to be stopped. You hold UF to 0 yards on 1st and 2nd and then play bendy zone and they pick up the 1st.
The play calling and execution on 3rd and longs need fixing.

Florida continued to pick up 3rd and long after 3rd and long in the 2nd half after they had 28 points and Aranda made “adjustments”. The last drive for Florida before LSU made the goal line stand was really pathetic.

Fan perception all the way. Fans don’t realize the days of LSU or Alabama running out defenses that destroy teams, keeping them to 10 pts and under 200yards are over. With today’s offenses, it’s a bend but don’t break. No explosive plays and have great red zone D.
