And LSU plays 4 of the preseason Top 10 and 5 TOP 20 teams in total...

Like winning the SEC West matters. Hell, Bama has won 2 national championships without even winning the division.

VA Tech as well. They're defense has been decimated from last year through attrition, injuries, and dismissals. I don't think VaTech finishes in the top 25.

Our schedule is a gauntlet

But we do get 3 of those 5 ranked teams in DV and another in a stadium we should have a 60%+ advantage.

Wasn’t LSU picked to finish fourth in the West?

Right about where I predicted.

They control their destiny with this schedule.

No excuses.

Ridiculous how lol??! 24 is fricking generous! I don't think you realize just how bad the perception of O running a program is.

Fuente is a much better coach though. Also, no Clemson on the schedule and they get Miami and Notre Dame at home.

If things go well in the opener at FSU, I think they'll be solid again.

“I don’t see why......”

As much as some want to pretend that Troy and the other L’s are behind us and we should move on, this ranking shows that they are not and that’s the why you are wondering bout.

Lots and lots of questions about this team especially on offense. How those questions are answered in our first 4 games will determine whether or not LSU begins to regain some respect for our football program. imo

There is Bama, Clemson, Georgia, and everyone else. Ohio State probably 4th.

The other 21, you can toss them in the air right now in terms of how they finish the season.

Even Oklahoma, on paper, is better than LSU at running back, but probably not one other position in terms of NFL talent.

24 is pretty ridiculous, but that’s fine, keep the team hungry.

Finished last year 18th and are only returning 11 total starters and we lost our OC

I think 24 is plenty fair

Basically, if you look at this poll in tandem with the USA Today rankings, the major college football web sites, and the pre-season magazines, here's what emerges regarding the SEC: everybody thinks Alabama, Georgia, and Auburn will be good. Nobody thinks Ole Miss, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Missouri, or Arkansas will be any better than mediocre. Predictions are all over the place about LSU, Texas A&M, Florida, Mississippi State, and South Carolina--there are credible arguments for strong seasons and for mediocre ones regarding each of those teams. So that's where we stand.

Only reason they are ranked is so whoever is broadcasting the Miami game can say it's a game between two top 25 teams.

Well Ed. You want respect? Here's your shot with two top 10 teams (assuming AU beats Washington) in the first 3 games of the season.

I honestly was hoping we weren’t in the top 25, I love when they disrespect us... should get our tigers motivated

Outlook: Ed Orgeron changed offensive coordinators and brought in Ohio State QB transfer Joe Burrow to help remedy the program’s difficulty throwing the ball. Those changes must to be successful as expectations for the Tigers are to contend in the SEC West, which it has not won since 2011.

Jesus.

My eyes crossed involuntarily trying to read that.

I hear ya, but three of those teams I mentioned in front of us had SIX losses. I’m sure they had some Troy type performances as well, we just don’t know as much about them.

UCF lost the coach that brought them from winless to undefeated.

Boise played no one, was only ranked two weeks last year (never higher than 24) and lost to UVA. They bring a pretty good QB back but lost their best WR, TE, and two best OL. Not a huge snub for them to be ahead of us but I’d think we’d be favored on a neutral field.

Again, none of it matters but I do think there is a serious overreaction about questions on offense (and coaching) for some reason about a team that has always won on strong defense anyway, when we look to have a great defense under Aranda this year.

I just find it interesting
