The preseason Amway Coaches Poll is out. Bama is #1 by a substantial margin. Top 10: 1 Alabama, 2 Clemson, 3 Ohio State, 4 Georgia, 5 OU, 6 Washington, 7 Wisconsin, 8 Miami, 9 Penn State, 10 Auburn

24th best team with the 140th best coach. Impressive.

24. LSU (9-4)
Points: 254. Previous ranking: 18. Opens: Sept. 2 vs. No. 8 Miami (Fla.) in Arlington, Texas (ABC, 7:30)
Outlook: Ed Orgeron changed offensive coordinators and brought in Ohio State QB transfer Joe Burrow to help remedy the program’s difficulty throwing the ball. Those changes must to be successful as expectations for the Tigers are to contend in the SEC West, which it has not won since 2011.

Pretty much can’t be rationally denied or disproven.
The fact is, there are many high school football coaches that are better head coaches than Ed Orgeron.

Kinda surprised we are #24
Posted on 8/2/18 at 11:30 am to Dynamis
Only four SEC teams picked a head of us. WE COMIN

24 is pretty ridiculous, but that’s fine, keep the team hungry.

I used to care what we were ranked(LSU and saints)
But the older i get the more I don’t give a shite. Win and you’ll be in the playoffs. Preseason rankings literally mean nothing

Yeah I was expecting 19-21 or so, but it doesn’t matter.
Beat #8 week 1 and I’d imagine we jump into top 15 easily, especially if Burrow and the O look good.
ETA: Actually surprised Miami is 8, thought they’d be right at 10.
Also Auburn isn’t getting the respect I thought they would. The more I look at it they really lost a good bit from that team last year.
Maybe a more winnable game than I thought at first.

We should be fortunate to even be ranked at all

I feel like 24th is a fair starting ranking, considering the offensive question marks and the talent on D we have.
let's ride baws! "WE COMIN'"

where should they be ranked?

I’m just glad we are starting ranked, plenty room to move up. We play 4 of the top 10 teams including #1 and #4. We win all of em and we will be a playoff team.

frick Joe Alleva for taking this program to an absolutely mediocre level. Preseason rankings don't matter but they do reflect the state of the program and the expectations on it. It's embarrassing.
ETA: We should be on the level where people think "Holy shite LSU is going to wreck shop this year" until proven otherwise. That doesn't mean we wont come in and wreck shop anyway, but we should never be a program where we are an afterthought until we prove otherwise. We should be a "red circle" game for every team on our schedule, including Alabama. Why there's a portion of our fan base that does not demand this from our administration is incredibly distressing.

I don’t see why Boise or UCF should be ahead of us. West Virginia or FSU either.
UT is close but given the Herman/O situation I can see them getting the nod over us.
I would have us 20 with 21 being pretty fair and 18 or 19 as the ceiling. 24 is definitely the floor though just based on Aranda and the D imo.

Above Michigan would make sense to me.

Who gives a shite. Preseason polls are pointless and nonsensical. We will prove them all wrong on the field this year.
