I was 16 at the time and watched with my grandpa (RIP) at his house. The only game I ever shed tears after, I was convinced we were a national championship team that year and to score just 3 points with that offense was maddening

1987 LSU vs Ohio State was right up there. Ended 13-13 and was a strait up war.

The Tebow years against FloRIDA get my vote. I will rewatch this Auburn game. LSU was so loaded in that 2006 season roster wise.

Is that Auburn game where Davis was tackled inside the 5 as the game ended?

Also, another year LSu playing Fla, Miles vs Meyer, was for all the marbles. What a shite deal for CLM and Meyer.
Meyer leaves and Saban as a former LSU head coach goes to Alabama of all places. You can hate Miles all you want, which is fair, but dayum. He was a fighter you have to give him that. If he couldve avoided the rematch in 2011 and not had to deal with both Meyer and Saban.......

Some of the mid eighties teams had some truly amazing hitting games.

Late eighties Auburn 88 was a freakin slobber knocker

I was there as well but in the upper deck with the LSU section. It was hot as hell but a great game!

LSU did get screwed on the PI call but there was no guarantee LSU would have won even with that call as it was such a defensive battle..

I have always enjoyed going to Auburn for a game.

There was a reason we only scored 3 points. The offensive game plan was horrible.

Game was an absolute war. The LSU Auburn games between 2005-2007 were fricking nailbiters. ‘05 had John Vaughn miss like 16 field goals, doinked one off the left upright to give us the win in OT. Might’ve been 5 or 6 but we’ll go with 16 because frick Auburn. ‘06 Early got mauled on the PI call and we lose 10-9. ‘07 Flynn to Byrd as time expires. Amazing series. Hoping the Pods don’t frick it all up

It's kind of hard to move the ball in the air when your receivers are being raped in mid catch.

Wrong….. LSU had plenty of chances but blew them…. I’m not gonna say the refs didn’t make some bad all’s on LSU, but with the talent on that team we should have scored at least one TD.

Then shock and anger as the ref waived off the flag and the rest of the stadium erupted in cheers all around me. I was so frickin pissed.

I can’t remember another time the ref, on the mic, made the call and THEN they picked up the flag. You see them pick up the flag a lot, but never after they publicly, verbally announce it. Travesty.

With that said, this game is overlooked as one of the hardest hitting games I’ve seen. I’ve never seen teams have to fight so hard for a single yard. Even the lone TD came on a QB sneak at the goal line. There was rarely any open space to be had.

Oddly enough the 2016 loss at Jordan Hare was also a very hard-hitting game. We were there.
Aubie never scored a TD and our offense was garbage. Was some hard hits though for 60 minutes and 1 second that got called back.
