2 solo tackles this season

between Dom McKinley, Lamar Brown, and Richard Anderson through 4 games. That is wild.

DTs don't get many solo tackles, especially not the rotational ones

All 3 are playing their roles well and are doing what they are asked. The DT position isn’t about stats.

Stephiylan Green has been a nice surprise IMO. Had a big TFL vs Clemson and a sack against ATM.

In some schemes it’s not the DTs jobs to make the tackle,it’s to keep the LBs free to get the job done.

DT dont need to make any tackles to be effective, they can have tackles and havd a pff 90 rating

Dom looked good the little I have watched him. Pushing back o line man. He disrupted 1 play for sure maybe 2 vs aggie and didnt get a stat for it.

Tackles is a misleading stat at all levels of the defense. Dom has had moments where he has blown plays up and gotten pushed out of the way. He has mainly been good though. Richard Anderson had a really good play on that 4th down stop walking the center back. Lamar Brown has been fine but outside the sack where he grabbed the facemask he hasn't had splash plays.

The goal is to be disruptive, collapse the pocket on passes, and keep linebackers clean on run plays.
You cant have good linebacker production without a good interior Dline.
They do the dirty work that doesnt necessarily show up on the box score.

I agree... I think he would be more productive as an athletic interior Dlineman... but I also think he's missing out on an elite career at Offensive Tackle.

Tackles looked at with other factors, can point to some things as a team, but for an individual player, it has limited meaning on its own.
If your DBs, particularly CBs, are making the majority of your tackles, it rarely bodes well for a team. If your linebackers have the bulk of the tackles, your D-line is probably doing well if you are stuffing the run, meaning LBs are filling the gap while they occupy the interior O-linemen. 20% of the tackle have been made by two linebackers who lead the team in tackles. TJ Dottery(26) and Whit Weeks (23). These are good numbers.
On a side note, Dottery leads the team in tackles, assisted tackles, pass breakups (tied), QB hurries, and forced fumbles. He is third in solo tackles. He was a good pickup out of the portal.

On that 4th & 1 that aTm ran from their own 35ish, Anderson stood that center straight up and then got double teamed by the guard which allowed Keys to fill the hole and drop the RB for the turnover.
