In all honesty, why can’t we go to this? It is not my favorite either, but I do think for the current moment it may be the best answer for our offense. It looked really good in the bowl game, despite the fact that Purdue was awful. It would be extremely hard for teams to gameplan against us, especially since JD isn’t just a terrible passer. I think that Nuss gives us a really good chance to spread the field which will open up our run game and help out with RPO’s as well. After watching some of the film on Fla State game, there was 3-4 RPO’s we ran that Fla State defended perfectly (see play ran against Bama for 2 pt conversion). With JD we are too predictable, we run the same plays, check down into the flats, run 10 yard comeback routes, or read options. With Nuss the team can’t play the safety’s so low, and it could really open up the field for the run game. Maybe a change of pace is what is needed.

Daniels is going to have make some crucial obvious mistakes before that happens. A lot of folks are waiting for an opportunity to call Kelly racist for taking Daniels out even if there's tons of evidence for such a move which requires extra sensitivity.

Because Jayden Daniels is our best offensive player and our OL is going to take some time and we need his rushing ability. Pretty cut and dry.

Put them on the field at the same time standing shoulder to shoulder in the backfield. Sometimes center snaps it to JD, sometimes he snaps it to Nuss.

Defense wouldn’t know what to do!

The pick vs fsu when nabors fell was pretty terrible.

Daniels is going to either have to be seriously injured or suspended for Kelly to give Nussmeier any quality game reps. The kid was in the game against Georgia until he was practically crippled.

In. IMO we need the ability to have explosive plays against quality teams. Jayden has not given us that since he's been here.

Not for the 2 QB system but I would have liked to see them do what they did with Tommy Hodson and mickey Guidry. Hodson was an all SEC QB but they brought Guidry in on the 3rd series of each half no matter what the situation. Everyone knew that Guidry was coming in. It wasn't because Hodson wasn't playing well so there was no messing with Hodson's confidence. It gave the Defense a different look as Guidry was a running QB also and it gave Hodson the opportunity to watch what the defense was doing so when he went back in he had a better grasp of the situation. It worked. No ego issue. No confidence issues. And the team played just as hard for Guidry as they did for Hodson. That would be the way to do it. Only difference was Guidry wasn't as good a passer as Hodson so there never was a QB controversy.

He did against Florida last year. He was very decisive and aggressive throwing the ball. It looked like things finally clicked for him and he was becoming a next level quarterback.

But for some reason he regressed some as a passer after that game and went back into his shell completely by the last 3 games. But he definitely flashed that Florida game. So I am going to hold out hope it starts clicking for him again this week and it sticks.

A 5th year starter isn't changing his stripes. Incredible people still hold out hope so unrealistically.

There's no response of yours that can cover for your stupidity. The offense, without a doubt, does not NEED a running QB.

This Les Miles era cope is so sad. Burrow taught many in this fanbase nothing. Back to the same tired excuses for the lack of a downfield passing threat.

Nuss should at least get a series or two every game unless JD is hot as a firecracker.

At least try it. Maybe this weekend at MSST??

Imo we aren’t built for it:

1) 2 QB systems really only work when one QB gets the lions share of the snaps and the other comes in situationally. I’ve never seen a good team successfully play 2 QBs equally.

2) usually the passing QB is the main QB and the runner QB comes in situationally. This is because passing is based on timing and it’s hard to come off the bench for a play or 2 and have good timing while a runner can come in and run a draw or option without as much issue.

So in order to have a 2 QB system we’d need Nuss to be given the main QB spot and we’d need Jayden to accept a much lesser role. I just don’t see either happening.
