Man I want to bring those back, just on occasion. Would rather more than the all whites, but I'll wait for a uni thread in the off-season to advocate for those.

I was at LSU then and went to my grandparent’s 50th anniversary party that night. Most of us at party didn’t want updates and I recorded game on old VCR.

Got back to apartment and watched replay after somehow successfully avoiding updates all night. Roommate got home while I was in 3rd quarter and asked if he could watch rest of game. So I knew then we won and removed the nerves.

Probably the last time able to do that in today’s world.

They don't have to be exactly the same as the old ones. Purple and white shoulder stripes would work well.

Yeah....because of course they came to my hometown the very year I finally got out of this dump. I had joined the military a few months earlier, so I had to watch the game from Orlando, FL. And, thankfully, they are too good now to have to come back and play here.

Fun fact....20 years later, I find myself living back in Shreveport, and LSU plays Notre Dame again in a bowl game. Where? Orlando! So, I took my wife (a confused young woman raised Catholic and roots for Notre Dame as a result) to Orlando, thinking it will be great to be in warm weather and watch LSU beat up on ND. Well, it didn't go my way at all. Cold, rainy, windy weather made for it miserable to sit through the game, and that was compounded by ND beating our arse.

It was a sort of full circle moment for me. Glad that guy coaching ND in the Citrus Bowl found a better team to coach for!

I remember payback for the loss to Notre Dame earlier in the season. In the Independence Bowl, LSU's offensive line played very well. That was a cold Winter as I recall.

My memory is of how great the atmosphere of the whole city of Shreveport was that weekend. Fan base was so happy to be in a bowl game again after the dark ages of the 90’s.

For those of you that attended the game, what were the Notre Dame fans like before the game?

I drove about 4.5 hours from Hammond to the game and then back to Hammond right after.

I was a lot younger then so it didn't seem like a stupid thing to do at the time.

That game was a blast. My second year at LSU. Man we though we were about to come up then. We won a bowl game against Notre Dame. Had a good team coming back. The rest is history.

I remember Faneca made a lot of money that night. Dude was a beast in that game.

I was there

Game was played on my 19th birthday.

I'd pay a pretty penny for a white helmet from that day.

You were not alive in the 90s if you didn't rock a starter jacket. I was there with my dad and remember the snow. It was wild.

Wasn't there for Independence Bowl, but dad and I were there in Baton Rouge when they came earlier. Watched our asses get kicked while freezing. I was 9 years old and still remember being cold.

Taped it on the VCR but listened on the radio. I was on leave at deer camp. We listened on the radio while playing poker. I remember it well because we had a heck of a poker game Saturday and I left the game at 12 midnight with +$ in my pocket. The Boo-ray (sp.) and two card guts went on for hours. I got up at 4 a.m. made breakfast and my best friend I couldn’t get up. Put his his hand in warm water. Yeah it worked. he didn’t budge. So only three guys went out that morning. I decided to sit in Cecil’s tree stand and shot a dandy six point with a double throat patch and another fella got a nice 50 lbs. pig (on the hoof). I mounted the head because of the throat patch. Many deer since then and ain’t seen on like it since. Didn’t go hunting that afternoon and made venison stew and boy was it cold. Oh that was a memory. I believe it was Sykes, La.
