I've seen better campuses in the quad.

Would’ve been better staying in Pineville.

Smartest move ever buying all that land for LSU.

I actually agree. I've been to all of the SEC schools (except Oklahoma). I had the most fun at the campuses that were the only thing in town; Auburn, Athens, Knoxville.

I know people like to hate aTm, but even their nightlife is better than BR. Centralized bar location, safer environment, volunteer designated driver system.

I think it just creates a better atmosphere when a college is in a small town.

Possibly. Red River acting as a buffer from Lower 3rd (Alexandria ghetto) is better than now with no buffer

That is not actually the world famous Tiger Stadium PVC pipe in the picture, but there is a reason it looks familiar. That is the great-great grandfather of the Tiger Stadium PVC pipe, hence the similar appearance.

Or immediately adjacent to downtown BR from where they moved just prior to this, with the refinery positioned more south of the city. Whole set up of the school and city would have been a lot better. Basically, a lot like Austin is set up.

I get that the whole thinking of the time was they wanted all the land for the Ag part of the school, though. Oh well.

I don't think anyone from Alexandria is limiting the ghetto to Lower 3rd these days.

They should have built LSU on high ground

The main part of the campus sits on essentially the southern-most plot of "high ground" on the Lower Mississippi. The stadium area and its surroundings are, of course, located on the flood plain, however.

The main campus was built in a swamp.

Some quick elevations as things are today.
Parking lot across from Vet School 29 feet
Grassy area in front of HOL Fieldhouse 43 feet
Parade Grounds LSU 46 feet
The center of the Quad 53 feet
North Blvd/6th street 60 feet
BR Metro Airport runway intersection 71 feet
