that said, there was a play in the game winning drive where Lee just threw the ball up (I think he was being pressured) toward the middle of the field and it just hung there like a punt. no idea how it wasn't picked. and I kinda sorta understood the reluctance to use him more. kinda sorta.

I just watched that drive and there was no such pass. Lee did throw a pick in the red zone earlier but Jefferson had thrown two prior to that. The following week Lee lead the game winning drive vs Florida. I don’t understand the reluctance. Jefferson should have been the situational quarterback.

JJ went something like 6 or 7 games in a row without throwing a TD and then busted up bama for a couple

You're right. If T Bob hadn't started the play time would have run out. Not many people remember his heads-up play. My brother called me after the game. He was so upset we lost. He turned off his TV before the refs called too many players on the field.

My flabbergasted FIL had a great quote when this happened: "Les Miles just snatched jaws from the victory of defeat." That about sums it up.

Piles has to be the dumbest motherfricker to ever make eight figures (frick maybe nine). To say that he is dumber than a load of bricks would be a huge disservice to said bricks.

I remember the whole section was pissed off and yelling and starting to leave, then my wife started yelling "it's on them it's not over!"

She was right!

Les was a character and a terribly flawed coach for sure, BUT he also had the class to go over way out of his way and catch Dooley and acknowledge him with a gesture of sportsmanship.

I remember turning it off after the snap, yelling at what dumbasses Miles and Crowton were for trying to substitute and botching time management, not to mention replacing Lee with Jefferson after he lead the drive.
I didn't want to listen to the commentary.
Then I learned we "won". Was happy but enraged at the blundering stupidity of the coaching staff.
CLM time management alone was enough for me. i was ready for him to go.

watching replays of the end of this game to this day is difficult. Miles was clueless when it came to clock management.

I was there on the east side where I never sit and people were throwing cups and bitching as I was also bitching and saying fire his arse now. This wasn’t the first time or last time he had clock issues. Like someone else said, I’ve never been so pissed to win a game .

17 year old Cold Turkey broke his phone because of that game. JJ had the snap roll past him, I turned away from the tv and threw it against the couch, it bounced and hit the floor, shattered the screen to hell and back my aunt goes,’There were like a million Tennessee players on the field!’ And sure enough, rest is history.

Losing to Wyoming two years before wasn't worse?

I had paused the game to go to the bathroom and then watched T-Bob’s hike over Jefferson’s head. A buddy of mine called me about then and said “So what did you think of that game?” I let loose a bunch of expletives and my buddy just said “I’ll call you back” and hung up on me.

Had another friend turn off the TV after the Blown hike and go wash his car. Did not hear we had one for a an hour or two.

The angriest I've ever been after a win. There was no joy in the win for me that day.
