LSU is going to beat the absolute piss out of Clemson.

I’m talking Oregon 2011 level preparation. Clemson would be wise to cancel us.

I'd rather lose an opener than tuck our tails between our legs

Plus we would not have made the playoffs anyway. They would have said we lost three conference games and played no one ooc.

I appreciate the comments relative to not running from competition. LSU should not in a normal world do so.

The problem is that the current coach has shown himself incapable of preparing/leading LSU to win these games. With constant roster turnover each season, if he can’t prepare for and win these games, why play them.

So you’re saying don’t schedule Clemson because they’re too tough, so instead let’s just schedule cupcakes in hopes of making the playoffs and possibly play………..Clemson?

I think the real idea with this school of thought is that you learn a lot about your team in the first 3-4 games. Having those cupcakes gives you an opportunity to make adjustments based on in game action, therefore making your team better going into SEC play, and not having the risk of dropping a game early on in the season. The committee clearly values record more than I think people originally thought (see SMU being in over Bama).

If Nuss is back, we have no excuse to go lose that game. It will get brutal for BK if we lay an egg again week 1.

Weren’t there a lot of people here calling Riley a pussy because they had tried to get out of the game?

I’m used to it by this point. Keep going. Eventually going to have to win one.

Has anybody who says this stopped to think that the committee actually watched Bama closely this year & saw an offense lead by a QB that was hot & cold? When it was cold, that offense was terrible to watch.

Maybe they didn't want to risk getting that turd of an offense at any point in the playoffs while SMU on the other hand had just played in a nail biter in the ACC Championship Game behind an offense that lead a roaring comeback.

Maybe it was also the Committee's way of throwing the ACC a "bone" after what happened with FSU last season.

I would not be surprised to see SEC schools start to removing OOC games off their schedule soon.

Please stop this nonsense.

If LSu had replaced USC with a rent a win this year, we would have still been 9-3 and missed the playoffs due to a blowout loss against Alabama, and losses to unranked A&M and Florida.

Alabama played a weak non-conference schedule. They are not in the playoffs because they were 3-2 vs teams with a .500 or worse record, including a 21-point loss on Week 14. Similar to LSU, them playing Wisconsin had nothing to do with losing to Vandy and Oklahoma.

You don’t think perhaps a tough out of conference opponent could separate us from another SEC or big 10 team?

Clemson played Georgia, lost badly, and just won the ACC to make the playoffs. Hmmmmm.

Everyone who talks about playing cupcakes should just stop talking. You sound like a pussy or maybe you are in fact one.

No one complained when we beat Washington, Virginia tech, oregon or many of the other game 1 openers. stop crying. You win some and you lose some.
