re: Why would anyone have downplayed Nuss's injuries?

Nuss’ camp has been selfish af since day 1.

I guess my point is that I don’t know that there’s and examination that they do on the sideline for an injury like that besides asking “how do you feel?” It’s not like they were trying to diagnose him with a new injury, they already knew what was wrong.
Well they weren’t even checking in to ask that but I’m addition I am quite sure there are physical exam maneuvers to assess severity. They weren’t doing that

That’s a bold take for someone who only sees him on the sideline for 4-5 seconds at a time but maybe you’re right.

The bigger mystery to me is what was Papa Nussmeier saying through all of it? Missing the season due to injury wouldn't have tanked his draft prospects half as much as the season we' ve just seen.

He should have been rested against LT, southeastern and maybe even against South Carolina. Early in the season they were probably trying to keep him in the heisman mix. But it should have been pretty clear after ole miss (if not earlier) that that was a mirage.

THIS is the mystery. Did NIL dictate a certain amount of playing time?

The quitter should not even dress out rest of season

I think the coaches realized that he gives them a better chance to win games.
This was a big miscalculation.

You saw him pass for 4k yard.
Nuss was still awful last year. 59% completion agaisnt SEC teams, with 15 TDs and 10 INTs and 4 fumbles.
Yall just keep thinking he was good because its been repeated so many times. He stacked yards, but his stats were subpar.

Because he gets up limping every damn time he gets touched!

Maybe by contract he had to have a certain amount of starts to get paid
That’s retarded.

NIL contract
I would like to see one of these, I think it would be interesting to see what the obligations are

I don’t know but I’m convinced his agent (who is Brian Kelly’s agent) and/or his NIL contract had something to do with it.
Same.
Coach and QB1 sharing the same agent is a bad situation. Don’t like that one bit.

That would be a violation of NCAA rules, one of the few they actually have.

He will be an nfl pocket QB, not saying he will be a good one but he will get his shot.
Solid lurker post here. 2015 join, 31 posts.
Couldn't agree more. Everything went against him this year. NFL scouts know that. He will rest, he'll get healthy, he'll have a decent combine, better pro day. He will go 3rd-5th round and get a shot somewhere.

It’s only a major problem now that he has egg on his face and being benched for another backup QB. Funny how he started every other game. How can a future “draft pick” be straight up benched for another underclassman, so the story line probably is he is now hurt so bad he can’t play; not lack of quality of play throughout the system so his “draft status” want be hurt. IMO

He’s been wearing a thick jacket under his jersey. People say he got fat, but it’s the jacket he has been wearing all year.

Anyone even remotely paying attention could see he was playing hurt, no zip on his throws, couldn’t throw a deep ball (which we recruited heavily to do). All consistent with an injured oblique, which was whispered about around campus, but BK completely covered up. Almost 100% of our passing plays were to the right side of the field, which is easier on that injury for a right handed thrower. Further limiting our play selection, coupled with his, or Sloan’s complete aversion to using the middle of the field. And the few times we did, Nuss floating passes nearly got AA and others killed by the D.
And those injuries take a very long time to heal. He and BK did the team a huge disservice covering this up and trying to play him hurt.

Wouldn't burn a red shirt for his team, now he is costing someone else a red shirt.
World class dude that Nuss, world class.

Playing through pain is a big part of NFL.
