I remember a lot of people on this board gleefully making fun of him at the time and saying he sucked - while the smarter ones sat back and said "we'll see, that man is going to win"

And keep in mind, Saban did "coach poorly" in some of those games.

Now we have his protege' and we can see flashes of greatness with tons of issues (Baker gets outschemed, or QB plays like a dumb blonde girl being chased by a Mexican gang in an alley in Tijuana, our lines look suspect at times, Kiffin looks a little uncomfortable)...

But we seem to think we should be title contenders because we "spent money". No, we spent money to get out of the black hole of retardation and mediocrity Brian Kelly left us in and we are still climbing out

Kiffin has to install a culture and that needs time. Now next year, we should see a much better team.

This year, under or Magic 8-Ball QB etc? Not so much

Totally different game back then. Saban inherited a bullshite middle of the road roster. Lane Kiffin was handed 50 mill and told go make the playoff, you dont have to win it all just go make the playoff. And the fricking season is over before November. Again. Its fricking bullshite.

Because you couldn’t wholesale reload a team in the offseason. And that was what Kiffin was paid and given NIL money to do. Saban built and developed Bama, Kiffin doesn’t have the ability to do that. He will buy players and be competitive but he just doesn’t have it in him to build a championship squad.

First of all, it used to be 40 lol but now that we’re out of the playoff it’s 50, got it

Second, he wasn’t told to make the playoff in year 1

I don’t think that’s true. Blake Baker has been revered as one of the best DC’s in the country, Kiffin retained him but practically any coach would, and last night’s loss is ON BAKER.

Not on Kiffin. If anything Kiffin has worked wonders with Leavitt in a way I didn’t think was possible. He had the stupid fumble and the interception, but you guys forget how bad he was going into the A&M game.

Reports have been coming out since the start of the season that it was north of 40, pay attention.

Yeah im sure the donors are cool with forking over millions to not be a top 12 team in the country. Give me a fricking break. Im as big a sunshine pumper as there is but our fans are delusional with this "you cant expect playoffs in year 1 bullshite". Keep settling for mediocrity. It's not that big of an ask just to be in the top 12. We'll beat state and auburn and everybody will think we got it figured out just to get ran off our home field by bama again like we alway do. You can take that to the bank.

Stein is his first year ever as a head coach. Let that sink in for a second. That being said it is tough to win on road when you let the crowd stay in the game and leave it up to officials. Have to leave no doubt

Yes, everyone realizes this. Now go look at how much lsu spent on its roster and compare us to other teams spending with a similar budget to us.

2007 might as well have been 50 years ago with today’s college football format.
