Rivals, Espn or 24/7 Below is the Rivals and 24/7 rankings for Barrett Carter .

Rivals:
#35 Overall, #1 LB, #3 GA

24/7:#221 Overall, #16 OLB, #16 GA

They are so far apart sometimes .

The rankings should go by: “can’t miss college starter”, “contributor”, and “not sure”.

I mean yes and no. A “can’t miss” college starter at Okie State might sit the bench their entire career at Clemson.

You go back and look at 247 composite ranking last few years and there batting a pretty high average...Most of the top guys are definitely panning out and making it to the nfl...

The composite is the best to go by because it balances out an outlier. I prefer 247 personal rankings over rivals and ESPN. Just think they actually put in the better work all around.

To be fair to the Carter rankings, Rivals just updated and 247 does next week. Let's see if 247 bumps him or not

In my opinion, if you want to rely on grades from a single recruiting service, you are wrong no matter which one you use. They are all horribly flawed.

The only correct answer is the Composite grades. With the hope that “3 likely wrongs can somehow make a right”.

I like 247 the best, the composite makes sense, but their personal rankings have been head scratching the last few cycles. When questioned on certain bumps and drops they have poor excuses either way.

The 247 content is way better than any other site though.

IMHO:

ESPN is the worst. 247 is probably the most well thought out and they’re transparent

Here’s the thing though- it’s all projecting and no one knows who’s gonna be a lazy POS like Shea Patterson and no one knows who’s gonna work his arse off like Joe Burrow.

Most of the times your crazy elite prospects (Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields, Leonard Fournette, Jadeveon Clowney, Derek Stingley) are obvious and the rest is a guess.

For example the year they came out Cam Akers was a 5* #2 overall player and CEH was a mid 3*.

It’s a guess man.

I’ve been following recruiting closely for about 20 years now - about 80% of the evaluation can’t be tested and it’s between the ears
