I don't know how I am derailing your thread. And this is not an attack on Wade despite everyone seeing it like that. I am just an LSU fan who wants to know who is going to be playing for us. I realize that Wade could not have foreseen the absolute insanity that has taken place and I put no blame on him.

I intended for this to be a thread strictly for insiders who have facts for us. Again, I think most are a little concerned but your recent posts have made it seem like the sky is falling

My guess is you are 100% correct but the quality of play is irrelevant to the topic. If it was then these players in question now in football for example would not qualify as professionals since they couldn't even make practice squads in the NFL. No, the issue here is professional. Those EURO players ARE getting paid and thus are professionals. So if guys who couldn't even play 1 down in the NFL are banned from college, so the EURO league players should be also.

When do we pivot? How long can you wait on a ruling to hit for half your roster? It'd be a shitty situation to wait until the very end and find out that half your roster is ineligible. We have 4 weeks until the first tip.

International pro players have LONG been allowed to play college basketball. LSU had one on its team last year and MM's prized recruit was another before he was fired. Hell, Dale tried to get Arvydas Saboins when was the best international pro in the world and may have if the USSR would have allowed it.

Basically, the NCAA's position is as ambiguous of many of their positions in essentially that international pro players are fine...as long as they aren't very good (i.e. getting paid a lot overseas).

Also, I challenge anyone at the SEC to tell me the distinction between this two player

Saliou Niang: Never played college basketball. Did not sign a NBA contract. Was drafted in the Second round by Cleveland -- SEC says he can't play.

Logan Schmidt: Never played college baseball. Did not sign MLB contract. Was drafted in the Second round by Cleveland -- SEC says no problem.

I agree with most of your post except your comparison. I assume Niang has made money playing in the EURO league so by the definition of professional, he is one. Schmidt on the other hand is a HS senior who MIGHT not have ever been paid, I don't know California NIL laws for HS players OR whether he was paid under the table by someone. But on the surface, the former played for money...the latter in HS did not.

IMO, starting NEXT year's class, anyone who played basketball professionally in Europe or anywhere else should NOT be college eligible. that would make it consistent with baseball and football rules.
