Why even call this college football any more. These kids have no real connection to their universities, it is just a job . Don't like the NFL anymore and interest is fading for college. Just my thoughts, I hate what is happening.

this

It's a shame how many fans cheered the changes on too.

People chose to eliminate the product that they loved.

Some people can't see the forrest for the trees. Our country is approaching a major recession and millions will lose their livelihood due to voting Democrat. Can't have a rude president tweeting from the toilet every morning.

Lsu doesn't have the big boosters you think it does compared to other schools. Some of us tried to tell you this would end badly but now the comments are "NIL ruined college football" "college football is dead"

While a year ago when lsu put up stupid digital ads in Time square about NIL you all thought we were ahead of the game lol
LSU was doing the right thing, TAMU decided to immediately screw up the whole operation though. I hope those assholes don't win a single championship after destroying everything so fast.

How the NCAA was so short sighted is beyond belief. It’s like they didn’t have a clue how it would turn when the average fan did.
And to combine the current transfer portal with it was a terrible idea.

This is truth. A significant number will simply deny it because they can't face it.

What gets me are the people who were soooo happy student athletes were finally getting a good deal… they probably never watched games or called it “sportsball”

The NCAA knew exactly how it would turn out, that’s why they never opened this can of worms. This was forced and was out of their hands because people wanted athletes to have the benefits of the NCAA platform without having to abide by its most basic, fundamental rules.

They literally believed that the rules on amateurism should not apply to football and basketball players just because other people made a shitload of money

I truly believe this works itself out in a year or two. How many times will boosters bust out the check book when that $2 million QB can’t make the adjustment to college football or transfers out or gets hurt the week before the season starts?

Are these kids willing to sign contracts? These schools and boosters will own them if so. Wanna hit the bars Thursday nights? Nah kid, can’t risk you doing something stupid. Stay in or lose your NIL deal. Wanna go on Spring Break with your friends? Sorry, I need you to do these appearances that week.

It’s not going to just be these huge cash deals with no strings attached.

Like everything else it touches, wokism destroys college football too.

Woke is destruction, but SCOTUS wasn’t being woke in their unanimous decision that the NCAA couldn’t prohibit people from making money.

This is going to have to correct itself or CFB is in imminent danger. The NCAA can’t stop it or temper it with NIL caps. Caps will not pass in the courts, SCOTUS has already ruled.

The NCAA had nothing to do with this, they were the ones trying to prevent this for decades.

Boosters can't be expected to spend millions on both facility upgrades and NIL deals

“Great facilities” was a big weapon in the arms race pre-NIL. Now, kids don’t care about facilities. They want big NIL deals. A kid is not choosing a school with a cool locker room over one offering him a 6-7 figure NIL deal

Many NFL facilities don’t compare to major college facilities…and the NFL players don’t really care. They care about their contracts.

So let’s say we offer Dante Moore 2 million dollars. He comes here and sucks. Never starts, plays mop up time, etc.

How’s that gonna look to a booster that his 2 million is for a bench riding backup that never panned our?

The return on investment here is so minimal it has to correct itself at some point.

Exactly. If you're a booster wouldn't you rather buying some 5 stars that you can brag about getting over other schools than giving money for a new video room and maybe getting your name on a plaque in the football facility.

Agreed. So many were so concerned that California would suddenly have the corner on the market. It wasn't going to happen. Too many players wanting too much for too few D1 teams in California to dominate the sport.

This is getting absurd. If the NCAA had allowed for players to receive compensation for their own memorabilia and signing autographs back in the early 2000's we probably avoid these kind of contracts being set forth right now. Probably too late in the game to dial this back.
