Spiegelman article about Colin Simmons

It looks like Simmons will be returning to Baton Rouge soon to visit along with his teammates Durham and Dakorien Moore. He maintains that he is a hard-commit to Texas, but who knows, maybe the door isn't completely closed yet for the Tigers.

“I still want to take my visit to LSU … just to go down with my friends on the football team already,” said Simmons, referring to four-star RB Caden Durham and five-star 2025 WR Dakorien Moore, still a priority target for the aforementioned Longhorns.
“They’re committed and I want to go have fun with them,” he noted. “Right now I’m hard-committed.”

Supposedly Texas paid once for him to cancel a visit. Let’s see them do it again.

He's still interested......don't kid yourself.

I think it's clear Simmons is still very interested but his NIL opportunity with Texas will just continue to outweigh everything IMO. Thats why he ultimately chose them and we just cant win that bidding war no matter what.

Maybe. At some point I think there would be an overlap between the two such that he would take less money to come here. I doubt it would be substantially less but still possibly something we could come up to. I'm actually kinda convinced that is somewhat what happened with Durham. Increased interested but potentially lower NIL won out because it was not a huge difference and he likes it better here and thinks he will be used better. Although OU taking multiple other running backs kinda helped as well.

Maybe we don't have to outbid them, just close the gap.

Gotta credit the coaches for trying. They’re clearly putting in the work on kids.
Unfortunately for some yea it’s just about the best money while hopefully some other good players will be looking at what opportunities are truly afforded at each school and football program
Texas football hasn’t been relevant in 20 years. I know that may piss off the closet Texas fans on the board but it’s reality

Then I hope he milks the shite out of them. Keep scheduling trips and making them pony up to stop them.

I want to hear just for once that LSU got a big time commit because we offered him a big NIL package. I feel like our reputation is becoming don’t go to LSU if NIL is important to you, and it’s becoming that way for more and more big time recruits.

How much do you donate?

if I was running the football program, if a kid has committed to another university already, you get no official visit to my program. I’m not wasting an ounce of time, energy and university resources on a kid who has already stated his playing intentions for someone else. You want my attention, decommit and redisplay your interest in my program then maybe I’ll consider hosting an official visit for you.

Now we know why you aren't running any football programs. Kids flip their commitments all the time, and it's because of things that LSU is doing with him.

All the time, no; occasionally yes. Have a little damn university and self pride and stop sucking off these kids who just want your attention. You still want consideration from university, hold your commit until you’ve finished considering all your options.

I agree with you but this will be a circus as long as grown men pay money to read crap like “the coaches rolled out the red carpet and feel they did all they could. We will see how it plays out.”
As long as there’s that kind of demand for this shite, the recruits have the ability to act like fools and as long as they pick up your hat on signing day we are fine with it

At this point I’ve accepted moving on from Simmons. Now I just don’t want him getting in Moore’s ear about flipping.

Supposedly Simmons loves LSU but his family wants him at Texas due to distance and compensation.
Now if LSU can up the offer we may be able to magically get his family onboard as I’m totally sure they just want what’s best for their son and are in no way shopping his services

Kinda hard to avoid they go to school and play football together. Doesn't mean it will do anything. I'm sure Caden is in Colin ear and other duncanville players ears also. It's P5 players all over that roster at Duncanville.
