Who the crap ever said that about Skenes' fastball? He had something like 15 inches of run on his fastball and similar vertical break at LSU. I don't know what's wrong with him right now that's leading to the drop in velocity, but if his fastball isn't moving then that is a new problem, not a pre-existing one.

Which is dead zone. Doesn’t mean it’s not moving, just that the shape isn’t extreme in either direction so it won’t fool people.

I didn’t engage in the Logan Schmidt ceiling debate in the recruiting thread because people either like analytics or absolutely hate it 
You can touch 97 in a showcase and your fastball still not be a dominant pitch. Regardless of what hand you are throwing with. It starts to make perfect sense when you see a guy like Eric Walker throw a 90mph pitch down that middle that blows by someone, then you see several other guys with significantly more velo get hit on anything in the zone.

There is zero chance this is true. Know someone who donates a lot to the baseball program and Jay isn’t going to allocate more NIL to a true freshman than vets. My guy said Brown wasn’t getting that type of money last year.

As long as the donors that contribute doesn’t dry up we should be good to go. As much as LSU sucked last year I believe that JJ learned a valuable lesson and that will never happen again

Apparently, you don’t know much about Schmidt. He is not just a hard throwing left-hander. See Cam Johnson.
Far from it. He repeats his delivery far beyond his experience and has a three pitch arsenal that he throws for strikes. Although he is physically mature he obviously will need time adjusting to a grueling SEC schedule.

Exactly. Everyone thinks baseball players are getting NIL deals like this. It’s simply not true. Here’s a little info on several players, first hand info from one of the guys that writes the checks. Tommy White first year at LSU got his college paid for and $35k. The following year he was paid around $75k from NIL account called Bayou Traditions, then another $125k from Graves, Gordon, Our Lady of the Lake,Marucci, Rouses etc for total of 200k his Jr year. Kade Anderson in 2025 got college paid for plus a total of $50k,,, nobody knew he’d have the year he did. Must be nice only having to pay your Friday night guy that much. Bear Jones total of $200k when he came back for Jr year, Anthony Eyanson’s one year at LSU from portal $300k, Jake Brown college paid for sophomore year, Jr year total $100k, Curiel freshman year $50k, big pay raise sophomore year to $300k, Yorke $200k last year, Caraway $250k last year, Simpson $200k last year, Think about that, $650k sitting on the bench with those 3 players.Coach JJ is not throwing around 6 figures to freshman that haven’t proven anything at this level. If you want to get paid, come to LSU from the portal. We should all thank guys like Jobert, Beloso, Dugas, Anderson, the Pearson brothers, Brown, and Guidry for bleeding P&G and helping win Natty 7 and 8 instead of hitting the portal and chasing big NIL Deals. Downvote all you want, but these are the kind of numbers being paid.
