you posted this thread the day after the deadline to sign. He literally can't go pro now. And we had already assumed he was coming to school. The money you mentioned doesn't sound believable to me.

Well in order to do that, LSU needed $16,000, so that wasn't too difficult.

I don't know about all that other stuff y'all are talking about, but this is far from the truth. The guy isn't close to being an instant weekend starter. The potential is there, but he's still a guy coming from highschool that will need to adjust and it's also being reported his fastball needs a good bit of work.
He's good, but I'm not sure he's THAT good at this point.

I will not downvote you, but for $1.5M per year that almost matches Logan Schmidt's signing bonus. I would think he would consider LSU for that, even not wanting to go to school.

A good bit of work?? He’s throwing 98 miles an hour from the left side. Who we got on the roster that can do that right now?

Naive. SEC hitters can turn that around easily if its flat and poorly located. Watch a few W Schmidt appearances this past season particularly when he struggled landing his offspeed.

Skenes is also considered to have a "dead zone" fastball. It didn't matter when his velo was up and his breaking stuff was sharper. But see what's happened lately when his velo has dropped?

And, he would have gotten every penny he asked for if Cleveland had the money. Moreover, they wouldn’t have drafted him in the second round if his fastball was inferior.

No one said it was inferior. We said it needed to be reworked. Cleveland is one of the best pitching dev orgs in the majors. They take flawed guys all the time because through their evals they have an idea going in on how to fix them.

He pitches at 90-94. So it’s not like 98 is something a hitter would consistently see from him:
