A review would be interesting, since most of us havent seen the incoming freshmen play.

One thing i wanted to ask,..Sydney Bourg is on the team, and no one has mentioned her. I was wondering where she is in depth chart.

It wont take but a few games into the season before we find out if anything has been done in the offseason in the way of correction with issues at the plate.

The sophomores look fantastic right now. Maribeth will be used a lot this season.

Antoine is dynamic and will be able to make an impact offensively. She looks to be the favorite for RF but everyone will have opportunities

The transfers will make an immediate impact. Schlattman, Doyle and Springfield have been nothing but praised from my sources.

Catcher is wide open somewhat at the moment.

Sydney B will see time, not sure about starter for this year.

Schlattman, Springfield, Caccamise, Loupe all are competing for catcher.

Andrews looks to be improved offensively, she has added more tools to the plate.

Sunseri is a dark horse offensively, she looks really good but spots in lineup are already limited. But Beth mentioned this week she will not be afraid to alter the lineup this year.

Some players will take on very different roles this year at the plate

One apparent difference this fall and now is there seems to be a better chemistry with the addition of the freshman and transfers *******

I'll write up more in a few weeks. A lot of work is happening now but from what I have seen and heard, the staff really likes this team and its potential.

Top 2021 power hitter Olivia Mcfadden has LSU in her final list!

Plays for impact gold and has became well known in the travel ball scenes as of late. Ridiculously powerful.

She was just at Florida a couple weeks back for an unofficial

Bama seems to be a player at the moment as well.

From a few sources, LSU led before but i am not sure if there is any more room, I am sure we can make room for a player like her. It also helps that some of her best friends are LSU commits

357,

Have you been paying attention to the proposed new softball recruiting rules? Jo Evans of Texas A&M and Mike White of Oregon are speaking to 500 coaches at my annual clinic yesterday and today. They both told the group that there is a very strong probability that they will pass and might as an emergency rule effective in April.

Their interpretations are that it may render all of this 2020 and later talk a moot point. Coaches won't be able to talk to any kids until their junior year and that could mean that our 2020 and later kids who are committed are off limits, until their junior year.

Both coaches are very much in favor along with over 90% of the 95% of Division 1 coaches who answered the poll.

I'll send you a link later today.

This may be the reason Beth is putting a heavy emphasis on the very young prospects now.

re: Remove Thread
I have been paying attention, it could be very interesting.

My question is how would it stop a scenario like this.

Coach really likes a player, tells travel ball coach to pass along to player and their family that a school really wants them. Player visits school and loves it. Coach passes along to travel coach that if they want a place there, it's theirs.

A verbal is non binding.

Junior year seems late well a little. Maybe scholarships can be offered then but if a player is interested in learning about a school and its coach as a high school athlete they should be able to take an unofficial.

If they do this for softball I wonder if they will do anything about any of the other sports.

Especially for gymnastics

re: Remove Thread
They have done it for basketball and lacrosse so far.

If they visit the school, they can't contact the coach. They can't call the coach and the coach speak to them.... according to what Jo and Mike said.

re: Remove Thread
I definitely think kids need to be in high school before any recruitment.

I don't oppose a high school sophomore from wanting to check out different schools.

I am curious how all these coaches truly feel, some of the ones who have bitched are the ones who offer and recruit 7th graders.

I definitely think gymnastics is the worst of them all. Kids go on unofficials at 10 and 11. It's a young person sport but it's insane.

re: Remove Thread
According to my D1 coaches who spoke yesterday and today, 95% of the D1 coaches responded and about %90 want the changes. Jo said only 3 didn't respond.

There's a link on the NFCA website... LINK that explains it. She had all 500 coaches in her session go on their phones and look and we crashed the site.. lol

The ones who spoke at my clinic said that they only recruit those that young because others in their conference started doing it and if they didn't, they would lose out.

Yes I heard...

I would have driven over yesterday but I haven't gotten over not feeling well after going to Montreal and Orlando, so hosting 500 coaches at my clinic this week wore me out.

My mistake was watching the game at the local bar last night with a negatiger.

Media day set for January 30

2019 Class rankings will be out in the next few days

It will be a top 10 class, not sure where

Small update but very interesting, Thornhill is really raisin a lot of eyebrows as of late. She looks phenomenal rn. Mindset, mentality and approach is very different. She looks like she went on a complete transformation of herself. She did some adjustments with her batting mechanics.

LSU had its first scrimmage yesterday
