This is a weird post.
You are mad at our insiders because they did not predict that at the 11th hour, Texas would throw silly money at Simmons to convince him to stay. This was ALWAYS a possibility. It was discussed ad nauseum on here that IF Texas wanted to wallet whip Simmons sufficiently to overcome the relationship factor that was in LSU's favor, they could. Well they just did and they did it recently. This is not our "insiders" fault.
All you are doing is pointing out how stupid it is to pay for a subscription to a recruiting site in the NIL era. It will always come down to the 11th hour and the "final offers." NIL should kill the recruiting services and I'm surprised it hasn't already.
The only thing newsworthy is reporting how much the payment was. He was reportedly getting up to $600K per year BEFORE Texas brought out their checkbook. It would be interesting to know how big the payment is (if only so other edge players at Texas now know how much more their new teammate is making than them).

Anyone with a brain should have predicted this

#1 There is nothing new about this as they as been going on since way before NIL
#2 They’re going to start paying players from the TV contracts sooner rather than later, which is going to change all this yet again.

My sources are telling me LSU is countering as we speak. They’re asking Simmons for just 15 minutes of his time to hear them out for a chance to save 15% or more on his car insurance.
IT AINT OVER YET!

Everyone agreed that this COULD happen. Some believed that it would LIKELY happen. But until it happened what were they supposed to say? All our insiders have said is that given the offers on the table, they liked where LSU sat with Simmons. And there was truth to that. The fact is that Simmons has a better relationship with LSU than Texas and but for last night's offer, he would be announcing for the Tigers tomorrow. That offer changed the game.

Recruiting is fluid and what may be true one day can be untrue the next day, especially when it comes down to recruits that are caught up in bidding wars. The real truth won't be available until final bids have been placed. That's really the time to tune in.

It's a pretty good hustle. Just red the tealeaves and look around the internet for clues and then present it as inside info and charge people for it. They are like weathermen. When they get it right boom, nailed it. When they get it wrong, doesn't matter. Weather is hard to predict and all.
Do yourself a favor and make your own confidence meters. Save some money and be just as accurate.

Honestly, what can Billy, Shea, and the 24/7 guys be doing all day? Do you really think they're pounding the phones with the Duncanville coaching staff? Think they're texting the family, teammates, or local barbers? They're just taking fluff interviews with Guarantee Media and surfing various recruiting boards just like the rest of us.
There's little to no incentive for family, friends, or coaches of these blue-chip recruits to tip the recruiting sites, or any journalists, about the likely destinations of these players. Especially with NIL in play, secrecy only drives up the monetary offers, meaning there's a bigger piece of the pie for the inner circles of these athletes.
I thought $1 for On3 was a steal. Now it appears its priced in appropriately for the "insight" that's provided.

I understand this is someone’s career but Shea, Billy, and Sam really don’t know what is going on most of the time.
Doesn't Shea's wife work INSIDE the athletic department? I mean, damn...

I'm sure they work hard doing what they can but I've noticed it seemingly more since NIL than in the past that with the access to information via podcasts, tweets, instagram and youtube, it's tough to justify paying for message board info you get from a variety of other sources.
I also understand the rock and hard place that guys like Billy and Shea are in. If they leak info and "ruin a kid's moment", they won't get information moving forward. If they don't, however, present early inside information to their subscribers, then what are their customers really paying for?

If some school is offering a high school kid $600K a year or more, they're utterly stupid. He could be a complete bust, just as many hotshot recruits have been. A single defensive player getting THAT kind of money is hard to believe. But if it's true, I hope LSU tells him to kindly go elsewhere.

There is absolutely no reason to pay for recruiting info in 2023

Shea has to hide a lot of what he knows because it’ll be obvious where it came from or who facilitated it.
It’s a pretty difficult situation for him honestly.
Then he is not capable of performing his job and should be fired. Why would On3 continue to pay a guy who as you say is unable to perform? That's a waste of money on their part

I think Crown on here might put in more work for free than those guys get paid to do. I wonder what the pay over at On3 is these days

Seriously, why would a recruit or his family/coaches tell some useless “reporter “ anything, ever? If it’s private, he’ll keep it to himself. If he wants to go public, he doesn’t need the reporter to do that.
If lightning strikes and one of these guys gets inside info, so what? If he leaks it, he’ll never get a tip again. If he doesn’t, then it’s useless to us.
It’s a con game.
Occasionally they get one right but a stopped clock is right twice a day.

Yeah, these are good points
I pay for their site, and will be honest it’s pretty useless. It’s quite clear they don’t have any clue what’s actually going on. The write ups about practice and what not are pretty good, but recruiting is anyone’s guess.
The prediction stuff is the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen. You can change it 5 minutes before they pick so it appears you were correct all along. They should all have to make a prediction no less than 1 week away from their announced commitment date and stick with the pick.
