Quantifying BR vs Oxford advantage

It obviously deserves a much more detailed analysis than my general hunch but we all know that one of the primary reasons Kiffin came to LSU was the recruiting advantage.
Given the exact same amount of money to lure recruits and portal guys and assuming the same coaching staffs, what’s the net advantage of “being LSU” vs “being Ole Miss” ?
in other words, all else equal, how many in our current portal class wouldn’t have signed with Kiffin if he was still at Ole Miss?
I’m guessing about 15-20 of our new guys would have ultimately gone another route simply because they did not view OM on the same level as LSU and didn’t want to live in Oxford.
Impossible to know for sure but that’s my hunch and is why Kiffin left.

Oxford/ole miss is the scrawny kid who goes to the gym 3 times and now you see him flexing in the mirror constantly
LSU is the massive guy in a big hoodie laughing at the scrawny kid and it’s almost time to take the hoodie off

Oxford has chicken on a stick; BR has raisin canes

I agree, this is more about a fan base that is willing and capable.

They are still runts and now a gutted runt

Ole Miss is not a bad spot. Probably in the top 20%, but LSU is the cream of the crop. The best atmosphere in all of college football from the tailgating to the game experience inside the stadium.

Well for one Baton Rouge has a stadium that holds about 40,000 more fans.

LSU is the better program, Oxford is a nicer town. I doubt many coaches and players are focused on the latter to make their decisions in regards to sports.

Mainly because high end high paid coaches don’t have to deal with the normal problems of BR so when people scream how bad BR is it’s really a non factor.

Exactly. Their kids are going to private schools, their families are in exclusive neighborhoods, etc. They are avoiding the negative of the city.

Meh. BR is no different than any medium to small size Metro City. Has its problems, has its pockets of people who are doing the right thing to solve the problems, and ultimately has majority of the people wanting to do the right thing in general. Looking solely at BR isn't good enough.
Think about it guys, he's had the opportunity to recruit by way of a couple of sold out Women's Basketball games. That's the sell...our fans will show up as long as you're doing the right thing and we will support. If he looked at the success of our athletic department, he can see that it's a place where he can win, and receive the resources needed to be a consistent winner. All while being loved by a bunch of bat shite crazy fans who just want success. We all have our differences, but at the end of the day, that's why it's a great place to be.

LSU is the only major college in Louisiana. Mississippi has 2.
Louisiana has a state GDP more than 2 times Mississippi
LSU athletics gets 30 million per year more in donations than Ole Miss. The stadium has 30000 more seats. LSU has more students.

The brand is simply as valuable as it gets. The same can not be said of Miss. That brand gives so many advantages, NIL is just one of them.

Have any of you been to Oxford that ask this question ? Anyone who thinks this is debatable issue, has not. Oxford is a fricking back woods red neck dump out in the middle of no where.
Chicken on a stick at the service station is fine dining. You need reservations for Shoney’s.
Only the National media who has never been to Oxfart, can perpetuate such an insane debate.

I went on an official visit to Ole Miss for football. It was a while back, but they actually took me to Shoney’s to eat strawberry pie. And they built it up before they brought me for about a day. I guess they didn’t realize we had about five Shoney’s in Baton Rouge. We stayed at the Holiday Inn and it was 9° outside. The only advantage they had was the recruiters were the most beautiful girls of any college.

That just isn’t true. I used my town as an example but can pull up stats for many other similar towns:
Baton Rouge:
Population: 227,470
Violent Crime Rate: 9.36-10.11 per 1,000 residents
247% above national average
Schools: Middle - upper classes use private schools
Frisco, TX
Population: 219,000
Violent Crime Rate: 1 per 1,000 residents
Significantly below Texas and National average
Schools: Very low private school use, highly ranked public schools

Frisco is in effect a suburb of Dallas, a very affluent suburb. Not what I would compare to a “metro city”
