I think Lanning is a good coach and a good recruiter, and I believe he will only get better as a coach as he gains experience as a head coach. He still makes some head-scratching decisions sometimes. But I can understand why kids would want to play for him.

With all that said, convincing kids from around the country to play in Oregon gets infinitely easier when you offer the huge stacks of money Oregon is reportedly offering. For a million or so per year, it becomes much easier to be a Duck.

Great, they should allocate all of it to the cross country program. It’s what Prefontane would’ve wanted

They act like Lanning is a recruiting god and they aren't just throwing frick tons of money at all these kids.

Two things can be true at once. Lanning's learned from some good ones and Oregon has deep pockets. It's a recipe for success in this day and age

teams should consider not using NIKE

Why?

This is Phil Knight’s personal money. Nike is a publicly traded company. They aren’t funding anyone’s NIL.

He’s retired from Nike.

Phil Knight said it is unlimited. He wants a championship before he dies and he is 86 years old.

There's the very real potential they could get that this year....

You realize that NIKE pays schools money for them to wear their shoes?

Wait just a damn minute! I thought only LSU lost five star players via late flips ??

If you want to see flippers at LSU you gotta wait until Friday nights in January.

Wait til Lanning bolts for the NFL.

It's one thing to have to play some games in the Mid-West of the B1G. It's a whole different thing if what you signed on for no longer exists as you so agreed.

Knight is Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Directors. He and his son own 97% of the Class A shares. Class A shareholders select 9 of the 12 directors on the Board. You don’t think Nike funds the NIL of Knights beloved Alma mater? LMFAO

He was obviously joking, bro. Dont try so hard to manufacture indignation and outrage. Chill and enjoy your good luck as a fan of the program.

If it was still about recruiting and developing, Saban would still be at Bama.
Oregon has proved that they can and will spend whatever it takes to fill every position with 5 star players. Money is absolutely not even a consideration to them. It is just a matter of making the kid feel special, a natty winner because of all the 5 stars around them, and more money than anyone else is coming close to offering.
