Purely speculative and not info based but I think Burks is in a waiting situation for a Graves announcement.

This makes a lot of sense. There's no other reason for him to be waiting. LSU must have a good enough offer to where he's willing to hold tight for another week or so.

Im like 75% sure the Boot Up tweet was about RJ Luis. He is the only guy who really fits the criteria of being a big time player, not international, and not HS. Guess the hold up is eligibility concerns.

think Madar is going to start at PG (unless they pull off a miracle with Montero)

I dont think this is the Top 15 team starting PG Wade had in mind when he mentioning having a Top 15 team this season, just my personal thoughts

I’m going to trust Wade’s eval on Madar if that’s our guy. He’s been drafted by the NBA. He’s excelled at times (led his team to Eurocup championship last year which by all estimates is higher level than the SEC). Doesn’t look like he’s done much in the Euroleague but still young for that and has good numbers in the Israeli pro league. Sounds like we’re going to pay him and obviously that money could have gone to a domestic point guard if Wade wanted a guy (other than Ugo) that was on the market.

I think the team he has in mind is:

Guards: Madar, Ugo, Bashir, Montero hopeful
Wings and Bigs: Graves, Dessert, Dioubate, Luis, Niang

That fits everything he was describing (7-9 guys, international flavor, etc.). Obviously still some question marks there with draft and eligibility concerns but that is a top 15 roster with Montero and still an NCAA Tournament roster without him.

There are some decent guys from decent programs still in the portal...why don't we go after a few of them?

Devin Askew - PG Villanova
Emeka Opurum - C Auburn
Niko Bundalo - PF Ole Miss
Antwaan Jones - SG UNC Greensboro
Vincent Iwuchukwu - C Georgetown
Semetri Carr - PG California

He's trying to get a mid to high 6 figure income job-and I don't blame him.

This is probably the last year in his life that he'll be able to make anywhere close to that kind of money.

I might be wrong about that. Askew should at least be able to play overseas for 6 figures annually after college.

So he’s a small 4, not a +6 guy, good all around skill set, below avg NBA athlete with a small sample size of tape. Saw early projections in the low to mid 20s, do we think he comes back to college?

A sub 6'8ish big? It can't help him, right?

Depends on your definition of a big. I’d say he’s a versatile big forward, not a Center or interior centric front line player.

Yea he’s perfect for positionless basketball. He’s an ideal small ball 4, could also guard the wing as a 3 in big lineups. Think the biggest thing for him would be what situation he gets drafted into. Hes not a #1 or #2 option in the NBA

ETA: I think he’d be dumb to take his name out the draft. No doubt he’d be a good player for us but for someone with his (lack of relative) production to be projected 1st round, you have a much higher chance of lowering your stock than raising it by coming back

I agree about being a good positionless player but not sure I agree about being able to increase his stock. He only started 4 games this year, played just over 22mpg but averaged over 3 fouls per contest so there’s definitely some room for improvement and room to show he can produce more at a higher rate of consistency. Basically show he can stay on the floor, guard better players for longer and turn a good production rate offensively into a high production rate over longer stretches of minutes and games. The size thing is also a factor, being billed at 6-9 in college then measuring 2 inches shorter can change perception because of his foul rate.

See I think that pushes him down to between 30-40 range. What’s that a little of 2mil at best? Gotta come back right?

Graves looks to be testing at the very bottom of any non shooting testing going on of all the bigs tonight. Feeling very good about this right now.
