Wade about to take the stage at media days, not sure we will get new information, but no doubt it will be entertaining.

The fog prevented LSU from flying out to media days this morning. Not sure if they are going to do anything via video later with the media.

Just saw that on twitter. That's awesome, just another middle finger to Sankey.

Quinn Ellis has been cleared for St. John's after playing for Olimpia Milano. He's 23 years old. It appears he made less money than Niang and Dessert, but he played at the highest pro level in Europe. Maybe a good sign for LSU getting Niang or Dessert cleared.

Not sure where the full zoom press conference can be found but a couple of snippets have just been posted on LSU Basketball Twitter account.

How are you tracking earnings? Just asking.

If I had to guess I think Dessert is going to be good to go, Niang'a only hold up will be he was drafted, but it wouldn't be the first time.

Everything seems to be trending towards Dessert and Levy being cleared. Think Niang would be the toughest one to get through but feel like there is a really good chance.

ETA. I stand corrected. Didn’t realize Niang’s numbers were this similar to Ellis (and less than Dessert).

Translated: Big news….the NCAA (forced after yet another legal action) confirms eligibility for Quinn Ellis (at this point, Niang's also becomes automatic)…

Sounds like CWW isn't rostering RJ Luis according to the Advocate. This is because of what CWW said in the SEC Media teleconference this morning.

LINK

quote:

LSU’s coach said that Luis, a former St. John’s star who signed an NBA contract in 2025, will not be joining his team.

“We’re going to follow all the SEC protocols with him,” Wade said on a virtual call during SEC media day on Tuesday. “I think it’s been pretty clear what the SEC protocols are on all that. He didn’t travel with us to McNeese, and he hasn’t been rostered.”

Gotta get Clark, Niang, and the others eligible to play ASAP. This will take some scoring and length away from the team that we really needed.

Think Clark is a long shot at this point. There is a hearing tomorrow, and he may get a preliminary injunction then, but not sure that will last on appeal. Really need to keep Dent eligible and hope we get Dessert eligible. I think we are good on the other international players.

They'll do whatever it takes to get Skyy Clark eligible. He's our starting 2 guard. Hasn't been any reporting on it, but surely they can find a judge to issue a TRO while the court case plays out.

That's not really how that works. He's likely stuck in the Kentucky case at this point. If the NCAA has not formally answered (as opposed to a motion to dismiss), then maybe he could voluntarily dismiss and file in Louisiana.

Everyone needs to be patient on RJ Luis. LSU isn’t doing anything with that Federal lawsuit still pending.

Also, here’s a new wrinkle:

I've been reading a lot of translated Euro basketball news ever since the international-to-LSU rumors started to spread back when. So, I have some ballpark figures.

The one hold-up I have on Dessert is that he tried to come over last year, and the teams pursuing him backed out b/c they didn't think he could get eligible. I always figured Niang would be easier to get cleared, but now there are reports that he voluntarily entered the NBA draft early and didn't withdraw. That would make him ineligible under the SEC rule.

If Niang is ineligible under the SEC rule then so is the Kentucky player Ousmane N'Diaye who was cleared by the NCAA in the last week. He voluntarily entered the NBA draft and never withdrew. The difference is he went undrafted in 2025.

He originally entered his name into the 2023 draft, then withdrew before the deadline. He kept his name in the 2025 draft but was unfortunately not selected.

I don't think the sec rule will matter for Niang. If he gets cleared by the NCAA he'll be able to play. They would look real dumb saying this guy can't play although the NCAA said he could.
