I like how confident Pear is when he talks about the team at full strength. Even without Luis this team appears to be pretty stacked.

Post game interview

He says two more were eligible they just didn't have the paperwork situated & wanted to be careful.

Looks like a couple more have been cleared by the NCAA.

Here is the exact words said by Will
Wade after the game tonight:

“We have two others that didn’t play that are eligible as well but there is just some paperwork that we need to work through. So we do not want to. It wasn’t worth risking it tonight for the paperwork. But Ruzik is fully cleared. We’ve got other guys that have been fully cleared by the NCAA.”

Imagine he is referring to niang and dessert there

I think the interesting cases are dent and clark

Levy is probably one; he should be cleared, no problem. He made basically nothing playing pro ball, almost like a pro walk-on.

Think Niang, Dent and Clark will be the most interesting. Think Levy and Dessert were the two he was talking about last night. Hopefully get good news on Niang next week.

Dent and Clark may be on an ongoing issue with court rulings.

That being said, if we get Dent or Clark along with Niang, Dessert and Levy, this should be an NCCAT tournament team that can win at least a game and have a chance to get to the second weekend.

I think the other is Dessert, they alluded to him playing in this game but then he didn't. Makes me think he and Levy are the two that need to get everything sorted out.

Also Nunez was in a walking boot so that is one eligible guy not playing because of an injury. Just in case it was posted yet.

I'm pretty sure Wade said that anyone who played last night was fully cleared, and Dent played. That tells me he's cleared.

He's cleared at the moment. But his status could change

Dent and Clark will literally be game to game as long as they are relying on court rulings to stay eligible. Would hope at some point the NCAA would just give up the fight at least for winter and spring sports and just let the 2022 class 5 for 5 players in.

ETA. Dent's case goes back to Court on 10/20 for a continuation of the Preliminary Injunction hearing.

On the other hand, Skyy Clark's injunction in Kentucky was stayed by the Kentucky Court of Appeals.

Dent and Clark are the most worrisome. After last night's game, even though it was only an exhibition, I don't think this team can afford to lose those two guards.

According to the stats from last night's game, six players played:

Bashir
Dent
Dioubate
Ruzic
Ugochukwu
Bender

Pearson also played. Bender and Pearson are freshmen walk ons along with Stansbury.

So really we only 5 guys who will even play this year playing last night. Pearson only played 3 excruciatingly bad minutes (we were -7 in just 3 minutes with him on the floor) and Bender played 11 minutes while being -9 when he was on the floor.

All the scholarship guys were + when they were on the floor:

Ruzic +13
Dioubate +6
Bashir +5 (surprising because he had a truly terrible game offensively)
Ugochukwu +4
Dent +3

Just shows the dropoff from the true scholarship guys to the walk ons we were forced to play some. Even if just Clark and Dessert were able to play, it would have been a laugher probably against McNeese. We were just short at least 1 guard and big that could play last night forcing the scholarship guys to mostly play the whole game just about which is very tiring especially in a first (competitive) game out situation of the year.

Dent was probably most disappointing outside of Bashir's shooting as he only had 1 assist for a guy who commands the floor and is a very high assist guy. Part of the problem though was we were 4 for 21 from 3 outside of him (thanks to Bashir's 1 for 10) so that certainly killed a lot of assists for him unfortunately I'm sure.

We owned the offensive glass thanks to Ruzic and Dioubate working hard there. Ruzic is much more ready to go than I thought he would be. Dessert definitely the starter but he can give super high quality relief minutes for sure.

You are correct, my bad. Pearson logged in 3 minutes as well. The link above didn't show that Pearson had subbed in. Here is the official NCAA game stats sheet:

I think Ruzic could be special. When Dessert gets added he won't be so winded and maybe see him some at 4 as well? And there was a massive light skinned guy in the warmup, not sure who that was

Big light skinned guy is probably Dessert. Met him outside stadium at last game. Has good height and decent bulk to him as well
