Why are yall acting like Dardar wasn't good? His numbers were fine. He just wasn't available most of the time.

His numbers dropped off a cliff from KSU, not even close

Was he a BAD player? no, but he definitely wasnt good especially combining his lack of bat a the plate we expected combined with his poor fielding

He’s the type of player that starts on an lsu team that doesn’t make the postseason

There was a game last year. I forgot what team not SEC, that Caraway was sealing second base but he didn't slide he got tagged out standing. The camera switched quickly to the LSU dugout and Jay turned to the coach that's always next to him and I'm not JomBoy but you could see he said "WTF was that"?

I don't believe Caraway played anymore from that point on.

People early in the season said "this guy just looks good in a uniform" and I never even saw that. He looked tiny.

His swing was also hideous. He was basically a less effective and less aesthetically pleasing Zach Arnold. Down to the stirrups, red hair, and ugly swings.

He has very rounded shoulders and his arms are too short for his torso. It made him look smaller than he is and it made the aforementioned telephone pole bat look cartoonish.

Often wonder how guys like Mitchell Sanford, Zach Arnold, and Brody drost would have done under Jay Johnson

I remember that, and it was the end of his playing time.

Buried between Hal Hughs and Will Safford, we had a handful of guys at the tail-end of PM's tenure that looked great in a uniform and showed potential but just did not perform consistently.

Mitchell Sanford, Brody Drost, CJ Willis, Luke Leto (PM recruit), Mo Hampton. I'm sure I'm forgetting others.

I think Sanford/Drost/Willis would have been much better under Jay.

This is hilarious to read after you called him the best 3rd baseman in the portal and claimed Jay upgraded the position overall. LOL

Speaking of Logan Schmidt one thing I hope plays in LSU’s favor (knock on wood) is the slightly less wear and tear from reclassifying. As many have mentioned we absolutely cannot pencil him in as a starter but the bullpen had a big need for lefties.

Here’s to hoping he can find a role similar to Ott (09), Hess (17), Shores (23).

I think thats best case scenario for year 1. I have always been very excited about his talent and was constantly holding out hope we would get him here...but some people claiming hes a starter in year 1 are fooling themselves. Best case would be a similar role to Hess and Evans in their first season. If he can find that command and continue to develop his slider and/or changeup then fitting into that role could be a game changer.

I'm still curious how our weekend rotation shapes up and I'm very optimistic about our bullpen comparable to what last year was. There has also been some recent talk (Jared Mitchell and Mahtook) about Casan potentially fitting back into his '25 role. Still unsure if I completely believe that but its interesting considering all the pieces we took in the portal.

I agree the realistic hope is for Schmidt to contribute out of the pen.

Was this speculation on their part or something they were hearing from the coaches side?
It would be nice is Casan would be open to that. I feel like in an ideal world the Friday-Sunday starting jobs would be up for grabs even at the start of the season.

They stated that conversations were had. Didn't say any definitive decisions have been made but that the conversations were had about with Casan about his role and what it could look like. Potentially starting or being available for longer relief roles or closing roles.

That's not what I heard them say. They said grown man conversations would have to be had at some point if Casan performs like he did last year. They specifically said he will start to begin the season and into SEC play. Which is exactly what's been said here.

Johnson clearly wants Evans to start and has said so multiple times. Young pitchers need grace no matter how talented they are or how much they flashed

Evans freshmen season is now his own worst enemy because of the expectations it brought. But being a starter is vastly different vs being a RP

I can’t believe I forgot about Evan’s in the pen as a freshman, it’s a probably because he’s still here.

My hot take is that Landon Hood will become the Saturday guy. That was such a massive get.

Agree with Adam on Hood and his potential for rotation but we need WSchmidt to take that next jump if there is any hope of moving Evans to the pen. Cant count on the freshman but would be a nice surprise. Just need Moore to come back as Moore for a Sun role.

Mikie said it on Monday that he knows he Jay have had conversations about it and that to your point of what J-Mitch said about grown men conversations having to be had, Mikie said based on his conversations of what he knows has taken place that those conversations he believes has already started.
