That's good to hear. I hope it works out that way. With 5for5 going through, along with the roster caps, this is the route you may see a lot more guys going.
Older players are going to continue to be the priority for a lot of program, either through the portal or on their own roster, so guys will need to get experience somewhere. The talent level in JUCO is going to go up.

This is both fascinating and maddening. How on earth Texas A&M got big time production from those two Ivy League dudes (Schott and Appel) is beyond me. That is a not a particularly great league that is really hindered by poor weather.

Just saw Arkansas kept their whole HS class out of the draft. Kinda insane for a top end SEC school
Anyone know how the other SEC schools fared? I feel like there’s usually 3-4 schools that get smoked by the MLB

Not to rib hard on them but they don't really compete recently with top SEC classes.
They had just 1 player in the mlb top 250 this draft in their class and was #202 and Javorski lanes son (someone highly likely to always come to school)
By comparison we had 9 or 10 guys in the top 250. (Before davis pulled out i think he made 10), and brought in half of them with all of them ranked higher than #202.

Well I’ll stop listening to highway to Hoover then. I really didn’t care for it much but thought it was an easy way to keep up with the rest of the league.
They claimed it was a “top” class. They are boring as frick to listen to and apparently also don’t know shite

Maybe top half in the SEC but is nowhere close to ours, vandys or TN hauls all bringing in a handful of top 250 guys in comparison to their 1

Their class wasn’t that great (it’ll still be top 10 nationally but there’s a big gap between Vandy/LSU/Tennessee/Miss St/Texas and their class).

High School All America game at Field of Dreams was held yesterday
Several LSU commits on the roster
Devyn Downs actually pitched in the game
Jordin Griffin, OF, Barbe HS (La.)
The LSU commit reached base twice for the American League, showing off his 4.4 40-yard dash time by screaming down the line for an infield hit to second base in the third before working a five-pitch walk in the eighth. Griffin also laid out in left to make a diving snag in the eighth. At 5-foot-10 and 190 pounds, Griffin has standout athleticism with strong hands and quick wrists that allow him to hammer the ball with startling power for his size. He is also equipped with good instincts in the field and plus-arm strength.
Samir Mohammed, RHP, Tampa Jesuit HS (Fla.)
The LSU commit threw a 98.1 mph sinker as part of a pair of punchouts for the NL in the first. Mohammed threw eight of his first 12 pitches for strikes, then worked around a Dylan Seward walk by forcing a flyout. While all three of his outs came on heaters, the righty’s changeup is considered one of the best in the Draft class. Mohammed, who turns 18 in September, flashes two-way potential as well, posting a 0.42 ERA and a .370 average last season.

So excited to get griffin, downs, and Romero to campus
Posted on 8/14/26 at 4:39 am to AlecRock23
Griffin is more like 5'7" 180# think Steven Milam but more muscular and crazy fast / athletic with lot of pop. Still has ways to go to develop as a hitter but the potential is there for sure. I don't think Samir or Luker make it to campus but as we've seen anything is possible. Romero can smash baseballs and is really starting to make strides on the mound, sits 92-94mph with really tight slider. With true 34 man rosters coming soon will be possible two way player. The 2027 class for LSU is very good if Jay is patient and allows them to develop which is very hard to do is today's college environment. Between the 2026 / 2027 class I'd be surprised if we don't make couple trips to Omaha

I just don't think they'll lock it at 34, especially with 5 for 5 in play now.

The 34 man limit is set, the only vestiges of prior limits are the remaining DSAs. That population shrinks every year and I think by 2 years from now there will be no more.

I thought 34 was too small before (but only by a couple of players really), and 5for5 exacerbates that. I think Luke Tucker is going to be the example going forward.

I’m starting to wonder if Zowen Watson is still committed to LSU.
