Sounds like Luke Tucker isn’t going to be here. Kinda shocked by that one since Jay loves his LH bats and he was already on campus posting videos of himself taking BP at the Box. Guess we needed room for Schmidt but wouldn’t have expected it to be Tucker.

Could have been a mutual decision since he's going juco. Go get a bunch of reps and come back next year.

He changed his Instagram profile to say McClennan and not LSU.

Ah okay. Thank you.

Good luck to him, I really liked him as a prospect.

Same here. I assume we're placing him at a JUCO in hopes of getting him back at some point. Sucks but someone was going to have to go when Schmidt became available.

He briefly added McLennan but left LSU, too. He no longer has McLennan on his profile but still has LSU.

This is certainly why Jay has said he rather invest into transfers and returning players than HS recruits. We’ve definitely had some signees get drafted that had success and would have been superstars in college, but there is a bunch of those guys that flamed out too.

he actually said he would rather invest in high school players and build them up through the program than the portal every year

Jay by nature is a tinkerer.

He definitely says things that he believes are true but he is always tweaking his approach.

Jay just wants to win. He doesn’t care if the players are from the portal or homegrown.

In fact, he said during the season he made a mistake taking portal guys over some of the homegrown players, who transferred. Then, the offseason came around and did the same exact thing. So that is really just Coach speak. His process works, he just got the wrong portal players last year.

I guess Mikey Ryan but he was probably at the position I thought we did the best at in the portal.

Seth Dardar not being better really surprised me. he was good at KSU and he is was older.

Simpson and Yorke were guys I thought could go either way but I loved their upside, but Dardar played in the Big 12.

Dardar had great moments but was injured/inconsistent

Simpson actually played really well in the Florida series but was a non factor otherwise outside of a homer against northwestern state (which I predicted)

Yorke started out great (people forget that) but went through a slump and never mentally got out of it

It wasn’t bad on paper. Just never materialized. They were all duds

You always run the risk with small school transfer if they are legit or if they are just guys playing low level teams.

I remember looking at Simpson’s game log and High Point didn’t play anyone.

But Dardar played a full Big 13 schedule and a lot of games against SEC teams and even faced weekend starters (Like our own Kade Anderson) and did well.

Big school players are risky too. There really hasn’t been an established pattern one way or another.

There are obviously no guarantees but we really haven’t had too many pure busts.

I cant think of too many guys who were actually good at a P4 school that transfered to LSU and were significantly worse here until thisnyear.

Carraway and Dardar. Carraway was up and down and OSU isn’t really a P4 teams anymore but still surprising

Until this season, Mac Bingham was the worst transfer we had taken.

Now, I'd say he's in the bottom 4.

I still don't have an issue with Dardar. In a perfect world he'd have been a complimentary guy and part time starter. He was flawed, but could have been remembered more fondly here if he weren't asked to do so much.

I don't have a single positive thing to say about Carraway and Simpson. Yorke was visibly lazy in the field and tried to hit for power too much. He's one of the worst we've ever taken as well, but he actually could have contributed if he weren't such a shithead. I don't think Simpson or Carraway could have actually contributed.

As far as position players go I think that’s fair.

Pitchers are a different animal.
Dorsey and Woods almost never saw the mound.

Why are yall acting like Dardar wasn't good? His numbers were fine. He just wasn't available most of the time.

He just wasn’t anywhere near as good as he was at KSU. Not even in a “oh he’s adjusting to the SEC” kinda way.

.326/.429/.636 with 13 HR at KSU

.260/.388/.496 with 5 HR

I think Yorke realized he had no future without showing HR power and tried to adjust his swing to hit more home runs and combining that with a huge leap in playing level really just doomed him. He was doing fine till SEC play.
