Sure but Ruckert is gonna get a ton of opportunities vs RHP early in the season and late in games. That's nothing like Yorke's early job security. He just has regular veteran job security

Agreed, ruckerts versatility will probably get him alot of playing time at different spots if park takes 3rd, which is still up in the air to me

How you figure? There's a clear cut competitor at 2B already in the program that bats left handed
He is a 4 year former All SEC player. He "removed" himself from the draft, meaning he talked to LSU and received some reassurances. There is no competition at that position. Rucket is lining up to be a utility player.

Anyone see the tweet about LSU and bama tampering with Unc freshman Caden Glauber? I’m sure it’s a troll account but man that would be a pick up of all pick ups
It’s made up. For better or worse, Evans and Schmidt will be two weekend starters next year. Moore is returning from injury and should be a starter if everything goes smooth. Then you have Hood that will certainly want to compete for another starting role. Tampering and paying a huge sum of money to add yet another guy that’s going to want to start makes no sense. He’s also from the Carolina’s and is playing for a national championship. It makes no sense for him to leave or LSU to realistically pursue.

Glauber is a slam dunk starter for UNC next season with what they are losing
On top of pitchers mentioned returning for LSU, Paz and Ricken will both be contending for weekend roles as well
I still think Evans needs to go back to the pen to put LSU in the best position for success on weekends

Hate to say it, but this is probably your best post I’ve ever read of yours. Can’t disagree with any part of it. More of this and less rage bait pls.

Evans, Schmidt, and Moore will be the starters until after tax day regardless of performance if fully healthy. They wouldn't still be here otherwise. Hood, Paz, and Ricken can prove that they should take their spot at that point if they haven't improved. Maybe Cooper Williams gets back on track as well.

While it’s certainly possible (though I wouldn’t say it’s even probable), making such a statement as a certainty is negligent at best. There are so many factors at play and your hypo only excludes 1 of many. Opening day is 8 months from now. LSU having the same starting rotation 2 months into the season is anything but etched into stone. We just brought in one of the best transfer pitcher in college baseball and there’s a host of returning arms as well as other new incoming arms who are ready to compete for any number of pitching roles. To act like Jay is giving these 3 guys guaranteed spots to start year and then thru the halfway mark of the regular season is contrary to the competitive nature Jay will need these players all offseason.

Jay gets paid to win games for LSU
He's not going to put up with another season like this past season
Players will have to accept their role or else, no matter what NIL they are getting

I think the fact that all of the starters from last year will be gone in the next draft actually helps Jay. You don’t have to worry about the threat of losing those guys to the portal after next year. He’s definitely going to be focused on winning next year and I’d hope those guys would understand that. Knowing Jay, he will have a detailed and specific criteria for what he expects out of his starters next year and it will be up to those guys to meet those standards.

It would be interesting to have an Angel in the outfield.
Posted on 6/22/26 at 4:38 pm to WJP23
Do we risk pissing someone off by bringing in a 3rd starter from the portal for the outfield?
Posted on 6/22/26 at 5:01 pm to Relham10
Maybe it means Jay got word that the Freshman OF class is getting gutted by the draft
Posted on 6/22/26 at 5:10 pm to Relham10
Possibly, particularly those focused on 'who' and not 'what'
