If Josh Jordan leaves Jake Gautreau may be a viable candidate. Certainly could slide in as RC although he also managed hitting for State.
So you would need to reconcile that with CJJs ride or die (Chief) plus void at catching instruction.

Chief is already on the off-field staff. He's hitting development counter to Tutko's pitching development. It allowed them to bring Josh Simpson on as a recruiter. Chief doesn't have to recruit off campus now.

Just watching the Super Regional this weekend, Duke's facilities are awful for a power conference school. If you're looking at that job, you have to wonder how much they are going to invest in the program going forward.

How would you feel about Gautreaux being Jordan's replacement? I know he was super well liked at State.

He was a hot name for a HC job for a while, but the talent level of the roster he was charged with building got a coach fired. That's a hard thing to reconcile.

Just for the sake of discussion, do you have a few names to watch as far as guys who are elite assistants that might be worth keeping an eye on should Jordan take that job ?

I wonder if we'd go for someone like Coggin or Bennett off the Georgia staff. Simpson already has Texas ties, so Jay may not see that as a priority for the new assistant. Maybe someone from Florida.
ETA: We shouldn't discount the possibility of a sitting head coach either. Let's hire Joey Hawkins and have him bring Bogenpohl with him.

Project, i have a question about staffs. Will the skillset of managing a roster in this new environment with NIL, etc. that P4's be a prerequisite for a P4 head coaching job? i.e. Josh Jordan to Duke is more likely now than a Mike Bianco from McNeese going to Ole Miss. If so, do you see some mid-major HC's look at P4 schools for top asst jobs in order to have an opportunity at a bigger school that the mid-major that they were in. It is a new dynamic on the resume.

Absolutely.

I agree , not sure if geautreaux can over come that image for a high end position at LSU currently. But, State was slow in adapting the portal at first when other schools embraced it, I think it caught up with Lemonis. They were the hot school when they won the natty for recruits , Jake built very strong recruiting classes and that next year things started to snowfall. Had several high end decommits and it was hard to recruit when the head coach was on a hot seat. Jake is a very good recruiter and he respects LSU a ton.
Remember also, Jay is LSUs biggest recruiter, he is one of the few HC that recruits at the level he does. Baseball is his life .

Looks like some Chris Reid stats. Little power, little speed, low batting average, high on base.

That’s a big one
I don’t know anything about him but that batting avg is a little scary. That’s also very few homeruns for a 6’4 225lb frame. I see he hit a little over .300 as a freshman.

Catcher Mack Whitcomb from Tennessee Tech is in the portal. We're not really shopping for portal catchers, but it's notable because he's probably going to follow like 4 of his high school teammates and go to Mississippi State.
The two Valincius brothers and a couple other guys from UVA all went to the Baylor School in Chatanooga and now seem to all be reuniting in Starkville.

Former LSU commit Jacob Misiorowski is being called up by the Brewers, and is expected to get the start Thursday against the Cardinals.

This could be how things look next year if we get some guys we're seemingly trending for
1B Ty Dalley
2B Seth Dardar
SS Steven Milam
3B Brayden Simpson
LF Andrew Wiggins
CF Derek Curiel
RF Jake Brown
C Cade Arrambide
DH Tanner Reaves/other
Obviously doesn't count any freshmen or anything, but this lineup is nasty

Simpson now following Bailey which is new. Not sure if that means the meeting went well last night, but here's hoping we get a Tiger Emoji soon.

Are we just assuming Frey is gone?? I feel like there's a greater than 50% chance he's back and I would expect him to start at 1st if so.
