re: Baseball related: Parker Brothers

I was surprised they didn’t commit to ole miss from the start . Dad went to ole miss and are fans. When Jacob commuted to state , they had just won the Natty. And JoJo joined him later. They do have some Louisiana ties playing with the knights since they were 13. But I would guess they would stay in Mississippi. They both are high up on draft boards also.

Evans committed in 22 as a Junior but still a gem. Not surprised one bit what he is doing as Freshman. He was always ranked as a position player but he’s been hitting 96 since his Sophomore summer. He shined at Area Code in Cali.

He was on draft boards and made the 18u USA team as a pitcher (very hard to make) out of high school. I’m still shocked he is not a pitcher in college. He’s obviously a good position player to be playing at LSU but he was a very talented pitcher.

In highschool Kade was pitched often to max pitch count at St Paul’s , into the 100s until he had full reconstruction Tommy John his junior year. Most docs will tell you that high inning pitch count , over 30 pitches in an inning and pitching consecutive days put you at risk the most for ucl damage . 135 is definitely more than most are comfortable with and it probably shouldn’t be a habit but every individual and situation is different. Late in the game , Kade had very efficient (low pitch count) innings, showed little or no fatigue, at least on the mound and it wasn’t a hot day.
As a parent selfishly I would have been uneasy because he’s projected first round and if he gets cut on again, his value will drop drastically.
But , because of the outcome, he probably solidified his first round grade .

Pretty sure it would 25 scholarships to divide up as they please, so you may have less Walk ons than suggested . Currently if you’re on Scholarship, it’s 25% of a Scholarship min, not sure about any new rule.

PBR just put out a list of uncommitted players in the state and KARSON TRICHEL was on there . I heard he was uncommitted from LSU, maybe this confirms it.

Gunner Leger, pitching coach, is the draw for in state pitchers at ULL right now even though he’s in year 2 as a pitching coach . Same at Southern Miss with coach Ostrander. Jay has said that he is watching Leger as a possible pitching coach in the future and thinks highly of him.
Fall Signing day is coming up , probably will see some more de commits happening like Pruitt . That time of the year .

re: Are there any LSU baseball scouts that come to NW LA?

Best way to get a look by college teams is go to their prospect camps in the fall. At the LSU camps Jay is very active and on the field the entire time recruiting at the camps. Can’t say that about them all but they will have coaches scouting. They are open to anyone that fall under the age guideline of the camp per NCAA.
Hard to get noticed in the HS season anywhere unless they are scouting a known player they already identified because they are in season.

I expected him to land at a mid like UL especially since he is from there. Head scratcher but could be a nice reliever if he sticks around .

Left LSU, went to McLennan , then Texas last year.
He left Texas in April during the season . According to the coach , something to do with being bought in. That program seemed to be a mess last year .

Baton Rouge not LSU

Texas got a big one to switch, Bryce Navarre followed him but that was a Nolan Cain deal. Bryce was actually LSUs first 2024 recruits to commit and then followed Cain to A&M when the family moved from Lake Charles after one of the hurricanes. Cain negatively recruits against Baton Rouge pretty hard and pulled Bryce to A&M but he immediately followed him to Texas. Bryce is the real deal and his curve ball is over shadowed by Schmidt’s but he will make some noise in the SEC.
Cooper is a great pick up especially for the LHP need . He’s not as polished as a Kade Anderson so I wouldn’t expect immediate production but definitely has elite potential . I’ve seen him live a good bit.
If we can keep Cooper snd Schmidt for the next 3 years , should make for a very dominant starting duo

The person (family or player) that sets up the perfect game account puts the commitment to the school or takes it off . Perfect game does not manage it . I can set up a free account right with my name and put myself as a LSU commitment and I would show on the commitment list. Same for PBR or any of those sites .

Yes he’s expected to be a part of the class and as elite as they come arm talent wise. I also expect MLB to throw something at him to see if he would take it.

I can’t speak about any of them specifically but I was told in March that Jay was cleaning house on the 24 LSU roster, having serious talks about play time/ scholarships and the direction of program with 24 commits. It’s probably a combination of them being out west and where LSU/college baseball is at.
Houston just pulled everything last week on a recruit and he committed to ULL this week. I think it’s crazy how late this stuff is happening .
Jay would never advocate this but I am certain LSU will keep evaluating them and he could always get them back more mature and ready to compete .
Those three mentioned are all highly regarded recruits and have draft potential in the future.
Stunner made the 18U USA team last year and all three were at Area Code games. I would think they want to play early, get drafted or transfer in a year and get paid a couple 100 thosuands .
Agree or not, Jay is in a win now mode and according to his press conferences recently, I believe the classes will be smaller and JUCO/ transfer heavy. 24 class seems to be the first big casualty. Also the 24 class was the last class that allowed most of the class to commit their freshman and sophomore years. I think the junior rule will help with evaluating and making smarter decisions . I know the coaches love the rule .

Looks like Stunner Gonzales, 24 commit, is going to UC Santa Barbara now.

Not confirmed but hearing Stunner Gonzales is not a part of the 24 class. I hope what I heard is wrong. I’m sure we will find out soon. I was told the freshman report next week.

Grant had full Tommy John early this year. Wise choice not to redshirt at LSU with an injury. He gets back to form, he will have a future in baseball. Battle it off and on but in California at Area Code last August, he ruptured it.

No need to go in the portal if you’re not on scholarship. You can leave anytime. Assuming he wasn’t because if you redshirt with a scholarship you’re on the spring roster. It’s being talked about that he’s leaving now or after the fall. Nothing official that Ive heard.
Some will be go into fall ball, see where they stand and then transfer.
Dylan can play the infield somewhere, not sure if LSU will be patient enough to have him stick around to get a shot at it .
