Man Stanfield back is huge. Plus the added big bat at 1B/DH seems like the offense is set.

I hope we get Beck back for next year. I think his bat will play nicely! He could be our DH at least against RHP.

I do too, but I’m wondering if today’s announcements are the reason why he took down his tweet

Larson and Stanfield timing was no coincidence

Offensively they’re a wash, defensively give me Stanfield. Not a knock on Larson but Stanfield seems to be a glue guy in the clubhouse too.

He won’t play at Texas either, weird choice.

I tend to agree, and that's the very reason he's in the portal now

But if he's betting on himself and plays, it could pay off big time

Still begs the question of why wouldn't he bet on himself here

I just looked at the 2026 class. Looks like quite a few draft risks, but what really stands out is only one Louisiana recruit. There has to be more than one kid worthy of an offer. We only got two this cycle. I know some don’t put stock into having hometown players, but I think you need more than that.

He’s a really good player but from all of the interviews I’ve seen of him, to borrow a phrase from Coach JJ, “he’s even a better human being.”

Just for kicks one day, I read all of the plaques posted outside the Box of all of the great LSU players over the years. Exactly 50% of them were Louisiana kids. I’m not saying we need that ratio, but I hope we can bump it up a bit.

We won’t have many at all after a few recruiting cycles like this.

There were 0 LA HS players taken in the MLB draft this year

I think 3 have been taken in the last 3 drafts (and Schmidt would have been if he wanted to sign)

Times are changing. Baseball was still a very regional sport in the 90s and 2000s. It's popularity has spread and the ability to recruit nationally with showcases and national 14, 15, 16, 17U teams has changed the landscape for the top programs.

York and Pearson can be our OG's on next year's baseball team. Guess that takes care of 1st base.

I would be shocked if Yorke plays 1B unless he drops considerable weight, which he probably needs to do if he's got aspirations to play at the next level anyway. DH, absolutely.

You don't recruit Louisiana kids just to say you recruit Louisiana kids if they aren't capable of playing at the SEC level now days. That is what got Paul Manieri in trouble toward the end of his career.

I agree but one of the variables in both of our recent championships have been Louisiana kids. I know Coach thinks it’s important too. I trust him. With that said, I think the number should never go to zero.

With a name like Yorke, we have to call him the Big Apple, right?

Ok. I'll see myself out.

I don't disagree, but I don't think Jay is avoiding Louisiana kids. If the number of Louisiana kids on our roster ever gets to zero that speaks more of youth baseball development in Louisiana than it does Johnson's recruiting strategy.
