He threw 17.2 for us and only 4 for Texas.

I'm a little surprised he didn't get more run with them. He had obvious control issues, but didn't give up hits... Almost like a Jacob Mayers - lite. 4 innings, 1 hit, 1ER, 4 walks, 2 HBP, 1.250 WHIP

He pitched in the MLB draft league this summer
2.61 ERA, 10.1 IP, 4H, 3ER, 11BB, 18K, 1.452 WHIP

He’s huge, too. 6’3” 185. Looks like he weighs more

Oh okay. I didn't remember him pitching that much here. Thought it was similar to his Texas total.

1B Zach Yorke, Grand Canyon
Yorke is a difficult eval as a 1B-only prospect who may ultimately get forced to DH before his big league debut. Won't matter. He bangs.

Coming off a .285/.390/.478 sophomore year after slashing .368/.471/.549 as a freshman. His 13.7% K-rate last year was actually a step back from the 9.6% K-rate he posted as a frosh.

Yorke boasts an elite approach with a selective nature. Consistently posts minuscule chase rates and his whiff rate has been south of 15 percent in back-to-back seasons. EVs jumped considerably in 2024. 92 mph average EV sits in the 90th percentile for college baseball. Absolutely smothers velocity, smothers everything in the zone and hardly struggles with spin. There's a bit more groundballs than you'd like to see from a well-below average runner (44%), but you live with it. He'll bail out of his front side against LHP at times but keeps his hands back and still finds impact to the pull-side.

This is a reasonably complete offensive profile. Could end up looking like a Josh Naylor in the box. Variability in his draft stock is quite wide. Personally think he belongs in the 3rd-5th round conversation, but we'll see.

Leaving this here right after the Pearson bomb tweet. Having those 2 on the infield in 2026…..

Lol I remember watching that big mofo in the 2024 postseason. It'd be fun to have him on the team
Correction: it will be fun to have him on the team

Yorke and John Pearson on the same infield will be visually intimidating
