I have been thinking about Braun lately and he could be a Trey Morgan type player for us, with less speed.
I think Braun makes it here and becomes a cornerstone, middle of the order type producer.

Do people still think Volchko is going to Arkansas? Haven't seen anything official.

Really want Taylor. 18K / 4BB in 11.1IP so far in Cape.

Baseball America did their last mock draft of the top 40 picks. They seemed to keep the teams picking in mind but also it seemed there was some personal opinion in who they would take if they were the GM.

Three LSU affiliated players was picked and it's likely not the 3 most people would think:

2. Kade Anderson - Angels
32. Anthony Eyanson - Brewers
33. Brady Ebel - Red Sox

The Brady Ebel pick is the surprising one but they were talking about how he is a pick that the Red Sox seem to like and wouldn't be surprised if they would take him there at 33.

the 34 man roster will definitely be a game changer and a delicate balance from how much you dip into portal and balancing it with high school recruiting

you can't afford misses

It's pretty set that Young, Ebel, Fauske and Sime are gonna go high enough to sign
Plog seems to be consensus he can stay in juco especially since you added three lefties from the portal
If Aase is hurt he might have to go the Louque route

Benge was interesting because it was weird how he just disappeared, makes me wonder if it was injury related, Jay is pretty tight lipped talking about injuries during season proven with Dickinson

I could see players like Benge, Primeaux, Fontenot, Ware and Noot possibily signing free agent deals even if not drafted

Noot has one more year of leverage bc of his RS in 2023. He'll be back if the money isnt where he wants it. He'd only get max $150k signing bonus if he is an undrafted free agent, and I dont think thats enough money for him to leave with another leverage year in his pocket.

Plog already made it clear he was coming here for '26.

Aase has already announced that LSU is sticking to their scholarship promise.

Ware and Noot are 100% not signing UDFA deals. They will either get drafted this year or come back. Noot, specifically, has zero reason to sign as an UDFA when he is a redshirt sophomore, who LSU relied upon heavily this year and will rely upon heavily next year.

This is technically incorrect, but effectively correct. He could get more, but the overage would count against the bonus pool.

But if he's in demand enough to get more than the $150K as a UDFA, someone would just draft him.

Big bonus UDFAs are extremely rate. The last one I remember is TJ Freidl with the Reds. He redshirted at Nevada (Jay's last year there), and then after his redshirt sophomore year blew up at Team USA, but no one realized he was draft eligible (he wouldn't have been on Team USA if they knew he was). The Reds had bonus money left over and signed him for a crazy amount once everyone figured out he had redshirted a year.

Likely, but I don't think Ebel is in the same category as the rest of those names as far as risk goes. This is the first time I have seen Ebel grouped into those top 40 picks.

Plog already announced he will be at LSU in the fall. His Northwoods team has his college as LSU also. So all signs point to him not being in JUCO again next year like Reaves ended up doing.

The numbers aren't that far off. We also still don't know how the roster rules are completely. We know 34 is the number but that's pretty much all we know.

There is some writing on the wall with the LHP that we just don’t know about yet I think.

I think Ware could be taken in the draft. Plog maybe held back another year. Maybe Primeaux transferring

Plog threw his last summer outing yesterday or the day before and is already headed to campus.

ETA: I think some of it is that there won't be any lefties in the freshman class. Another variable is that you really don't know what you're getting from Smart. Ware is probably going pro. Primeaux sticks, IMO, because they know what he is.

I think Ware goes pro. I don't have an opinion on Guidry. I'd like to see him contribute another year at LSU. I hope his health issues are figured out.

Not counting Frey, LSU has 9 position players possibly coming back next year when you count the two portal players. This seems really low. If the draft hits LSU hard (worst case scenario) the incoming players would only bring it to 15-16. Last year had 22.

Is this purely because of the 34 limit rule? Still begs the question why Costello, Larson and Ryan/Hogg didn't want to stay.

Ware's path seems similar to what Justin Loer was last season. Was probably hoping to have a better year but will still get drafted and take his 100-150K signing bonus and be on his way.

With NIL, I’m curious how much negotiations are going on during the draft. If the HS class is worse than expected it would leave more money for current players who are on the fence or HS guys who are getting offered slightly below their number.
