This right here. This era of pay for play will not be around forever. There will be a point in the very near future where a cap is put in place. Is fiscally impossible to continue for these schools/donors. You aren’t getting 1 million worth of chicken finger sales out of Whit being on a Canes billboard. Things will level out on that front and OM will continue to attract talent but not to the level LSU can.

That’s cute that you think lsu didn’t have to out bid other schools for these players lol

head aggy Luicci said A&M was offering about $50K more than what LSU got Lamar for, typically he leans on getting outbid so I tend to think he's correct in LSU was not the highest bidder for Lamar. The others I have no clue

No question but elite DL are infinitely more important than WRs.

Lane said he will only pay HS recruits he feel are so elite they can contribute day 1. Maybe Royal is not as good as he thinks or maybe he's just waiting to bid him up come signing day. You see the DL class we just brought in? That's what he's talking about. Top heavy. Sign maybe 10 guys all elite enough to contribute maybe day 1. Deuce Geralds has big potential we haven't had a freshman DL this good in awhile.
Even though year one felt like we didn't have a budget, we actually do have a budget. I really do think Lane and Glasscock think Royal is worth it, but as Glasscock has said before, they have a certain number, and they don't want to really go over it. Something the hardcore recruitniks don't seem to want to budge on. Even when I listened to Shea he just still came off like he was salty that we didn't go all in regardless. Same with Lester and a couple other guys who watch these high school kids. It seems like they have not understood that there has to be a limit and there has to be a budget and allocation of funds.

Do people realize we are going to have to up Duece's deal? Any of the WRs who stay and put up great stats, their deals will likely have to increase. Dilion Jones will want a pay raise too. Jordan Ross hasn't gotten even a piece of a sack since week 2. Princewell will be gone. We need at least a million for an elite pass rusher. We gotta replace no less than 3 on the OL just on NFL draft and eligibility loss alone.

Elite edge players sure. And infinitely is not a word I’d use.

Why are we still discounting WRs in 2026 ? Get with the times

Most of our players are NOT from La. That's the way the game is played now. Personally, I think that is a big problem. A La kid will play for the state, their hometown, LSU, family , friends and a paycheck. An out of state player is just playing for a paycheck. I think that makes a difference. It may only amout to 3 or 7 points, but that could have won the 2 we lost.

Why doesn't it matter for any other team
How many players on Indiana last year were from in state
What roster % of in state kids does Ohio St and Georgia and Alabama have?

There was one elite WR among the final four teams last year that actually lived up to his billing
Cooper was elite but he was 3*

The team that looks the best right now has no WR anybody would claim to be eilte and literally does the same thing every year yall are crucifying Lane for right now

Nobody discounting them just making the point that elite DL guys are more valuable. Not just edge guys. Any DL that can get after the QB or completely wreck the run game is more valuable than almost any WR.

Every team had/has multiple nfl WRs on it

Why is his recruiting ranking a qualifier lol?

Indiana had multiple nfl WRs. Same as this year

This is where I would ask you to name their DL if I were trying to reason on your level (which you of course don’t know). But I’m not here acknowledging DL isn’t important. It’s not one or the other.

The closest game we played in 2019 was only competitive because of Derrick brown. They could rush 3 a bunch and drop 8.
Echols almost single handedly won OM the game.
In the age of running qb’s you could make an argument that interior pash rush is at least close to, if not more, important than edge guys.

Very concerning. I am optimistic on Kiffin and am fine with the job he’s done so far. But this here needs to change. I don’t care what the in state talent wants. If you believe they’re high impact guys, pay up.
