Apparently he was considering the portal but that is no longer the case and he is locked in with Texas.

Moscona also said we had silent commits from an OT and S that were in the playoffs. He doesn’t have a clue
Posted on 1/14/25 at 8:01 pm to Wrucker16
He said “On December 21st, before Christmas, Brian Kelly mentioned they were aiming for around 15 additions, and here they are at 14. There are even reports of silent commits from a safety and an offensive lineman currently playing in the College Football Playoff.”
You guys beg for whispers behind the scenes and get mad when he gives them

We’be basically got the same schedule, just swapped locations, right?

That's not what he said..

LSU could sure use everything about that kid.

Uncles do t really have good track records on these matters. Things tend to go the opposite way.

Stamps is a boundary corner not a slot guy but remember that the “slot” in Baker’s defense is the STAR which Perkins will be starting at this year. So you’re going to have Delane, Pickett, Stamps and Jackson battling for the 2 boundary corners with Cooley at FS, Williams at SS (if he in fact hits the portal and comes to LSU) and Perkins at STAR where Major Burns played last year. A lot will depend on how ready Pickett is to play right away as a true freshman or not.

Cooley is not a FS. He will most likely play nickel, if not he will play SS.

So the Tigers have the top transfer class in the country with 16 transfers (currently). It includes:
1 quarterback
3 receivers
2 tight ends
2 offensive linemen
1 defensive tackle
3 EDGE/defensive ends
3 defensive backs
1 punter
Of the 16, 13 are considered starters or significant contributors, with people still saying "we need another safety and another offensive lineman."
It brings up a couple of questions:
1. Without this top-ranked portal class, just how terrible was the 2025 edition of the Tigers expected to be?
2. What the heck have Brian Kelly and the assistants been doing the last three years to necessitate such an overhaul?
Like everyone else, I'm glad they're bringing in a bunch of guys who supposedly can turn 2025 around, but things must have looked awfully bleak from the inside.

That 2023 class along with the last couple transfer classes minus a few players have been a GIGANTIC bust.
People are going to downvote you, but 2025 was going to be a rough year without a giant portal class like we have now.

The 22 class was technically his first but he hired in late Nov / early Dec that year so it was more of just keeping what Orgeron put together. His 23 class was a failure, I think due to him and Polian recruiting more like their ND approach, with a national footprint instead of the regional we use now and was successful with in the past. Having 2 classes fail back to back is tough to overcome and we saw that this year. He’s seemingly fixed that with the 24 and 25 classes and patched those holes, on paper, rather well.

Doesn't matter because we DID get the portal class we needed.

In today's college footbal if you don't start by your 2nd year, you transfer. Most of those players are gone. Recruiting isn't a 1 year deal, you usually recruit players for 2-4 years so the 24 class was the first class where we had a full recruiting cycle with the prospects. I think the 24 and 25 classes are more in line with what we should expect and the 26 class should be good as well.

Interesting. Today is the last day for the Texas transfer portal window.

Eh. There's a chance it would have been okay, but alot of people would have to step up that have yet to. Basically would have been living on a hope and a prayer and would have likely been 9-3 or 8-4 again. The roster as it is now is much better than it was a month ago. It could be better, but like I said the other day and got downvoted into oblivion, I like where it's at right now. There are no more "needs" on this team. There are positions we could get better, but i like this team if it has to take the field as it is right now.

I down voted him because it seems many posters try to find the down side of every topic.
The summary by position group was nice to see. Asking how we could have been even more miserable is kind of miserable.

Good explanation. Someone with critical thinking skills!

BillF you nailed it brother. BK still hasn't landed a QB since coming to LSU and seeing what ND is doing without him makes us look like we unloaded their garbage so they could finally reach their potential. 2025 LSU is gonna be a must win type of season to save BK in BR and he knows that too. Putting up his own money might have just saved his job and made us serious contenders.
