A lot of the guys here are blue collar working in the oil and gas field. It would be as if DOW chemical offered you a job, you took that job, and the day before onboarding, ExxonMobil sent you a real offer for 2x the salary DOW is paying/willing to pay you. Not one single person here would turn down that offer from ExxonMobil and show up to Dow tomorrow.

Both are good companies to work for, but if one is offering 2x as much, you take that job.

Bet on yourself, take a “pay cut” and go elsewhere or put your fate in UMs hands to hire the right guy.

Lane’s got a good track record getting the most out of his QBs, whoever it may be. My trust is in him, all I’ll say.

This kind of bluster is no longer applicable in today's environment. Every player is now open for bids every year and schools which try to adhere to some old standards will be left in the dust. Whether good or bad this is the new reality.

You mean to tell me he didn’t put up numbers in that high flying Michigan offense that once won a game by not attempting a single pass in the second half? Kid is talented, but he took the money to go to the worst possible place to showcase what he could do.

If he came here and was winning, all arguments for him not being here would disappear. He would thrive in this system under LK.

Wasn't there an interview he did before signing out of high school where he and the other two guys interviewing him laughed about Michigan not being able to develop QBs well? I don't think it'd take quite as much money to get him to come to BR now as it did to make him leave and go to Michigan in the first place. He's seen it firsthand now.

He did us a favor

Had this team flopped with him at qb, BK could have made the case for another season behind his strong D and a more seasoned underwood.

If Lane wants him and he comes to us, he could easily be a Heisman winner with Lane coaching him and in his system.

I’d swerve LSU for that much money…and so would all of you.

It's a strange situation. There are so many moving parts to this.

If he were a different person with no prior history with LSU, and LSU wasn't already getting a brand new offense...and he wanted to transfer, then yes in a heartbeat.

But we know this is only a two year proposition and I am not sure its worth the money, distraction, et al.

We are already going through a huge transition with Kiffin coming in. Everyone is learning the offense. Its not like we have RBs or WRs who can come in and make his transition easier.

Do we want a coach and the highest paid QB in a transition year?

And as we excuse his freshman year for being a freshman year...but he was just okay. Now he played some tough teams--but he wasn't even good against Northwestern, Purdue, Mich St, and Nebraska. He was great vs Washington. Plenty of other Freshmen have played way better than he did this year.

Demond Williams, Jr is another consideration. And he has two years of elibility left as well. I think he might be considerably cheaper. And he's a better runner.

I won't hate it if by any stretch we get Underwood. But I think the "no brainer" take is wrong. There are somethings to consider that aren't in his favor.

What makes you think that he is available?

He wasn't that impressive for sure but he was also a true freshman. Combine him with LK and he could surge next season as one of the better QBs in the SEC and the country.

Has great potential but the QB position is a honestly a crap shoot and sometimes it’s not even the individual players fault when they don’t do well at the college level. Sometimes it’s just bad coaching or just a good old fashioned inability to properly communicate between the qb and coach. It happens. Sometimes they just can’t get on the same page. (Les miles killed the career of many a QBs.

it's foolish to go for pure mercenaries. I don't think there is any problem with kids wanting to make some money, but imo you better make sure they love to play football and it's not ONLY the money.

He wasn’t great this season

Jaxson Dart Freshman year at USC
61.9% Completions, 9 TD, 5 INT, 7.2 yards rushing/Game

Byrce Underwood Freshman year at Mich
61.1% Completions, 9 TD, 6 INT, 26.9 yards rushing/Game

We all know what Jaxson did after transferring to OM and getting coached under Lane. Steady improvement year after year.

He has the talent and seems unhappy with how he is being developed which is definitely understandable.

If Lane wants him, we should all be behind it. He knows far better than the rest of us when it comes to talent evaluation.

I would love this kid. Get him some legit offensive coaching while he’s still raw. I think he would strive under Kiffin.
