We’ve had max 4 5 star recruits in the best recruiting year in the history of LSU football. Not all of those even produced. People are literally bitching about our guys when they commit. Dipshits like bloupe bitch when a 3 star cb commits without looking at the film. He is the same guy that bitched when 3 star bates committed but bitched when 4 star bates might flip.

You can take 50 posters and their complaints about signing 3*s.... and those 50 wouldn't add up to a single 2*.

Top 150 on 3 services but Rivals has no rating for him. Average is 97.3 on the 3 ratings posted. But then it takes more than 10 fingers and toes so a Bama grad would be SOL doing the math.

You may want to add Patrick queen, Justin Jefferson, sadique Charles and Lloyd cushonberry.

Yes you can have some three stars that pan out and spme 4 stars that don't but we can go down the list in the NFL roght now and I bet there was more 4 stars anf 5 that 3 stars even though there are about three times as many 3 stars that get recruited than 4 and 5 stars.
1st round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
12 5 Stars
7 4 Stars
12 3 Stars

1st round of 2022 Draft
9 5 Stars
10 4 stars
13 3 stars or lower

Dolphins had to forfeit a pick in ‘23 if you’re wondering why the numbers are off.

Someone is wrong here. This guy will be a four star anyway so this will all be academic.

Talked with a guy that has a kid in Oak Grove HS in MS yesterday.

His daughter is a Jr in high school. Said you can go to a game and not know who anyone is, but when you leave you will know who PJ Woodland is. Guy was a big state fan, real upset he de-committed

mine was from 247 ranking when they were in high school. I’m sure different websites such as rivals, espn, on3 have certain players ranked differently.

So of course stars matter. Individual cases may be different but the more 4 and 5 stars you have chances are you will win the most.

I’ll take the opinion of coaches who see these kids at camps and know if they can develop them over some recruiting services watching film.

Brian Kelly’s recruiting classes at Cincinnati were ranked 106th, 83rd, 101st and 53rd. His last 2 teams made it to the Orange Bowl and the Sugar Bowl. Travis Kelce was the #85 TE with no P-5 offers. Jason Kelce was a walk on. They are both future HOFers.

That seems to track with the typical NFL draft narrative going back decades.

On Day 1, it’s big name players from big name schools mixed with lots of smaller school guys you’ve never heard of.

Come on man arguably our best defensive player in program history was a 3 star from NOLA. Now I know Causey isn’t coming into a CB room that includes Pat Peterson, Mo Claiborne, and Ron Brooks but it’s always big to keep an in state kid AND steal someone who was a longtime commit to a rival.

Look at the percentages. Just looking at the number of draftees makes zero sense considering the massive difference in population size between them.

From 2017-2022 there have been 1,294 draftees. Over that same period less than 1% of recruits were 5 star. Of those 117 were drafted (about 63% rate). So a population that is 0.7% made up 9% of total draftees. Pretty outsized

2.8% of recruits were 4 stars. 468 were drafted. So 2.8% of kids made up 36% of total draftees, also pretty outsized.

3 stars make up 40%+ of the draft but they should. There were 9,728 of them. Multiples compared to 4/5 stars. And only 517 got drafted. That's 5%. Very underrepresented

Those guys were prior to 2018...and Queen was a composite 4-star not a 3-star. LINK

Yeah there will be a few 3-stars that will play better than their HS ranking... but its crazy to think every 3-star will be the next Jefferson or Mathieu. We've missed more than we've hit on those guys.

Our secondary needs urgent help (Blue Chip recruits). Not a bunch prospects that will take 2 or 3 years to mature/develop into contributors.

I agree with you here with the caveat being they HAVE to hold onto Baites. Unfortunately lose him & this class looks way less impressive.
