Lol @ these idiots upset about this. These were the same idiots saying “he’s just a 3 star” when we first offered him.
If we had given him an NIL deal these same frick heads would be saying “so now we have to pay for 3 star players?”.

The ironic part of this whole thing is LSU probably would have taken care of Danny Lewis NIL wise, just like they have so many current players.
But he took $25K, which in the grand scheme of four years, isn't a lot.

Sure, keep your head in the sand while Bama and A&M keep buying players. Perkins was a huge pickup but its one player. Lsu let a player get away over 25k. Think about the money LSU has blown and you let a player get away over 25k? You give these kids that come from broken homes or poverty stricken areas the choice to play for the school they love or get paid the majority will take the payday every time. LSU has a choice, step up and pay them more than the next school or watch them leave.

Maybe Lewis wanted to go to Alabama and the money was simply lagniappe.

247 Sports shows them with 6 TEs on the roster now and signing 2 additional TEs in the 2022 class for a total of 8 TEs. I read somewhere where they had 10 TEs before Lewis.

People acting like some 3 star TE was going to make or break this class make me laugh.

LSU absolutely fricked up NIL and the proof is in the players going elsewhere
This is the truth and I don’t get why it’s even an argument.

He preferred 25K to be 11th on the Alabama depth chart instead of coming here and competing for a starting spot. Best of luck to him.
The big $$$ would be the NFL, not NIL. Lewis needs to get on the field. That's gonna be harder there than here.
He basically pulled a reverse Joe Burrow.
And I don't wish him well. He plays for Bama. Hope he drops every pass thrown his way. And should he catch one I hope he fumbles it.

Recruit great athletes that appreciate playing D1 football at LSU while other teams stack their rosters with ego money driven five star athletes. . Watch them implode! No chemistry, jealousy over who is getting paid the most, imo.

Walker Howard, Will Campbell, Emory Jones, Harold Perkins, Welch, etc all came here, yet losing a 3* TE and 4*RB in a state that produces hundreds of them means we completely fricked up.
Kelly had basically 2 months to assemble this class. Get over it. Not enough time for the NIL stuff to really kick off

Why is the narrative just about Perkins? LSU in a year they fired a local legend and had the current staff finalized just weeks ago, signed 5 in the top 50 and pulled all-conference players from the portal line candy. What am I missing? LSU has been missing on in state recruits for decades.

So, the kid thinks short-term, takes a little cash now, will never see the field, and so won't attract the attention of the pros later.
Smart.
Smart.

Screw him, he took 25K to sit on the bench as a Gump versus seeing playing time with us.
Anyone that stupid needs not be on our team.
When he hits the portal, Coach Kelly needs to say, enjoy playing for Mcneese

Kelly is having to build a team.. It seems like LSU didn’t have to use a lot of NIL money to get players we know can play already from the Portal. Maybe this is the way we will have to be competitive with the NIL… Get solid portal players and use the NIL for a couple of blue chip sure thing High School players…

The legislature has to change the way the law is written. As it is written right now LSU is definitely at a disadvantage. Everyone realizes it and it will be addressed during the legislative session this year

It feels like LSU has been lagging behind a bit in NIL deals
There’s not an unlimited supply of money and the staff didn’t think a 3* TE was worth dipping into the pool.
It came down to evaluation. We thought we could get better and probably for cheaper.
