The new aspect of that craze is also doing ceilings in the same dark green-grays or deep blue-greens.

I actually like it too.
We repainted a couple of years ago. No wallpaper but darker greens and teals throughout with an almost black-green (Farrow&Ball Studio Green) on all the trim / doors / cabinets.
We painted the living room in a very dark teal: everything except the oak floors: baseboards, ceilings, louvered shudders, walls, doors etc.
I was worried that it would seem claustrophobic but it's actually the opposite and makes the rooms feel larger. Agree that it's actually very relaxing.

We have full dipped our bedroom and a couple of bathrooms and living room. Semigloss trim and doors, egg shell walls, matte ceilings, but the same color. It's really aesthetically pleasing and you feel like each room is an entirely different house.
One Sherwin Williams Thyme bathroom, Behr cracked pepper in our bedroom, and SW simple stone color in our master bath that is fantastic. SW iron ore in formal living room.
Our bedroom has a dark wood, navy/gray aesthetic that is insanely cozy. Every thing in there is picked to match the vibe. Then you walk through french doors to our bathroom which has the stone full dip color. Really cool. People come to our house and ask to walk through it and show others.
Rest of house is an off white egg shell wall color I forget and same color baseboard in semigloss (not bright white)

Exactly.

Those are all really good colors. We had a similar sage green and blue gray. The darker setting also really make the colors in artwork, furniture, rugs etc pop.
We went all in on greenish blues and sages:

Great paint suggestions here from you and Catfish. Thanks!

Those are all gorgeous colors!

Both of those are hideous.

Worst
Too open floor plan, Cooking in the great room sucks
Soffet down spot lights, they look like shite
Street facing garage
Best
Hearth room off the kitchen, I’ll never have a home without one
Laundry shoot from kids upstairs bathroom to laundry room
Lower driveway to daylight basement garage with 16 foot garage door
In home theater- best naps ever
Low voltage landscaping up lights

Best (for the spaces I care about the most)
Large attached minimum 3 car garage with walkout door and windows on the outer side wall. Each bay large enough for large SUV, truck and/or boat and with room for shelves, cabinets, refrigerator, freezer on the back and side walls. Garage attached to kitchen.
Extra large screened porch.
Extra large deck.
Full sized walkout basement.
Private courtyard off master bedroom.

You have to have a very specific modern style house for this to work and most don’t and it looks so bad. Ground up lighting always looks so much better.

works great when you only have so little time together and someone needs to wash all of the dishes, get dinner going
Funny enough, this is why I don't like open floor plan. To be fair, we don't have kids, so the biggest appeal of open floor plan doesn't apply.
It's not unusual for me to spend the entire day cooking, which I like to do with my music going and whatnot. That's not necessarily what my husband wants to spend the day doing, however. It's nice to have other rooms to go into that isn't your bedroom.

Hang on...you painted your entire living room (walls, ceiling, trim, doors, cabinets, etc.) all Iron Ore color but with different finishes? Unless you have a ton of windows and high ceilngs, that has to be one dark room, no?

SW iron ore in formal living room
It seems like almost every remodel we do we mention Iron Ore at some point. Actually have done numerous exterior siding jobs in Iron Ore that look awesome. Definitely a great color. SW makes some great paint. I don't think we have a single painter that doesn't prefer using SW.

Don't get me wrong, I like Iron Ore too. In fact, my front door was painted Iron Ore for years....which ultimately lead me to switching it out to an iron door instead!
I'm just questioning the use of iron ore EVERYWHERE in your living room. I have no idea how that would look or even if I understand correctly what he is describing?

The tiny tiny lots that all homes are built upon now. Doesn't matter with the house is, but if there's a real front and backyard with trees it's timeless.
