Sleep numbers bed

I’m looking for a new mattress. Is this a good option?…. I’m looking for a cooling mattress as well….. anyone ever buy one of these did you like it or not?

After 15 years, we bought a new bed about 4 months ago. My buddy said the sleep number was the bomb and he would never have anything else. I wanted one but just could not pull the trigger on a 8K bed.
So we went with a Nectar system. We got the dual adjustable bases and split king mattress. So far, I love it. The adjustable base is a must have.
We ended up spending around 4K total.
It is shipped to you and you set it up. No issues there. We already had a bed and wanted to keep it so we bought the adjustable bases that fit inside of our frame.

I just got done with some extensive shopping and Sleep Number was one of the last options we considered because going into it, we thought they were nice.
After going to the Baton Rouge store and getting to lay on some of the beds... our minds were completely changed. The beds just were not comfortable, they "swooshed" around almost like a water bed, expensive, the only one that did not have that "swoosh" feeling was the one that was $14k LOL.
After doing some more digging because I though Sleep Number was like top of the line... they have bad quality issues and many people confirm the "swoosh" feeling is not ideal and kinda like a waterbed feeling unless you are on the most firm setting.
Of course do not take my word for them, go browse the Sleep Number reddit and do some basic searches.
We ultimately went with an Aireloom mattress and while I did regret it in the few weeks after we made the purchase, after a few trips and sleeps in other beds, it seems like each night I am loving it more and more and fully no longer regret it.

We’ve had a sleep number for 7 years now and haven’t liked it for the last 5.
Recently laid on a purple mattress in a store and fell in love with it.
My oldest kid has a nectar and my wife loves that one. I find it a bit uncomfortable, but I’m also 100 pounds heavier than her. Fwiw.

I'm 10 months into a sleep number c4 and it's become the worst decision of my life.
I have the mattress at 100 firmness and the first 6 months were fine, but the last 4 the materials between me and the 100 firmness have completely broken down and caused chronic back issues. The to point that in the last 2 days I am sleeping on the floor next to my bed.
It's pretty crazy to be honest. I have a hard time finding a firm enough mattress so figured this would be the ticket but it's not.

We had a Sleep Number bed, and it was the worst mattress we have ever owned. It is not worth the investment.
We moved on to the Split King by i-SENSE (adjustable firmness), and we have had it for 5 years now, and it has been nothing short of fantastic. We bought the 2 twin adjustable bases from Sam's, and this seems to be one of the best investments we have ever made. I highly recommend this based on our experience, or at least look into it.

have had one for 3 years now and I hate it, my wifed loved it for the head and feet adjustment. now I am too stubborn to get rid of it. if your a side sleeper it sucks. but to each his own

We just got the Nectar hybrid after having the Nectar foam for 5 years.
We didn’t rotate the foam mattress like we should have & there were sink spots for lack of a better term where we slept.
I prefer the foam because I like a firmer mattress but the hybrid is comfortable.

Looking for recommendations for deep pocket cooling sheets if anyone has some they like, I’ve found not many of them are cooling like they advertise.

I've had a sleep number bed for over 25 years and its been wonderful. I highly recommend it.

For some reason I put dents in all mattresses, I’m 5,10 185. I sleep on my back and don’t move all night.
Memory foams only last a year with me until they dent.
I went with sleep number because my thoughts were that you can’t dent air. I was right. I went with the cheapest mattress they sell, which has the thinnest layer of memory foam on top of the air mattress part. I’ve had it for 3 years now and it’s great. No dents, no back issues. Again, I think the key is a very thin layer of padding before the air part of the mattress, this helps with the firmness settings. It auto adjust , as you sleep as well. Helping the mattress form to your body.

Your story tells me that I have a unique problem then. I'm similar to you, few pounds lighter. Sleep like a rock on my back in one spot and kill mattresses in a year. I went with the second the cheapest with 3 inches of foam instead of the one you bought with 2 inches of foam.
But this thing is failing me, and yours isn't failing you.

I have one and it was a game changer b/c I need a hard bed and my GF needs a soft bed. Wish I had gotten the cooling feature.
ETA: We added the memory foam topper b/c she had to have the memory foam feel.

i have one, best i have ever had. wife says she doesn't sleep great in it, but i have the proof. I tell her anything over 75 is good sleep.
