I've had one for about 17 years now, I love it. I recommend to anyone who asks. I sleep great and wake up refreshed every day. My number is high (75), so people who have it really low may feel that "swooshing", but it's never been an issue for me.

My wife sleeps on 55, so hers is fairly firm too. We don't have a bump in the middle. I know that is a problem for some people as well.

3" memory foam top, it was called the p7 when I bought it, but idk if that one even exists anymore.

We have been sleeping on a sleep number i8 for the past 14 years. The wife and i love it. We went through 2 mattresses prior to the sleep number in about 5 years. She likes soft and I prefer hard.

Currently have a "perfectly snug" cooling topper and have nothing but good thing to say about the topper as well.

Have the most expensive one for over a year now after going through 4 mattresses in five years. Temperpedic, a few others can’t remember the name.

SleepNumber is a godsend. Took a month to figure my setting and will adjust here and there but lifelong back pain disappeared by month 3 and my score average is 85 now with a random night in the 60’s here and there. No idea what people mean by swooshing. It adjusts to your body and pressure points if you have active response setting on. I sleep on my stomach and side and it adjusts when I move within a minute or less.

Wife also loves the heating and it has zones with added heat at the feet that helps you sleep. It will adjust to your body temp too.

The cooling isn’t really cooling it’s active air or a fan circulating and doesn’t work as well as I’d like actually cooling but it definitely helps especially in the summer in an old house with bad insulation.

I tried finding every reason to return it the first month or two since it was so damn expensive but after getting a few nights where I slept six deep hours and felt like I was ten years younger in the morning it was totally worth the money.

*** Very very important tip. Every month or anytime you might think it’s firmer/softer than the actual setting get off the bed and fill it to 100. Then set to desired number and lay on it. It will eventually adjust to the right number.
I do this often especially because my wife uses the bed for storing everything in the world during the day and it throws it off.

Your story tells me that I have a unique problem then. I'm similar to you, few pounds lighter. Sleep like a rock on my back in one spot and kill mattresses in a year. I went with the second the cheapest with 3 inches of foam instead of the one you bought with 2 inches of foam. But this thing is failing me, and yours isn't failing you.

Dang, that sucks to hear. Not sure what’s going on there. I actually went for sleeping in 100 to 85, and I like firm.

I will say for all those who need a super
firm mattress and have memory foam, flip your mattress over.
